those were kids throwing punches. no technique on the ground, no attempt at subs.. white boy had some what of a reverse head lock... but that didnt last long.
he should have went for some kinda of clinch or close the distance and work a take down.
he kould have pulled guard and broke his posture at one point, but he kept eating punches.

i guess being unskilled and depending on natrual instincts happens. i've learned in my mma and bjj classes to always have a gameplan in every position. kourse its hard when you're gettin your face smashed in. i guess i shouldnt be critiquing them, i've been doing shit for longer, and obviously these guys dont have much training.

kant win em all, and I hope he looks at his loss better. But i dont agree with full kontact outside of the gym, unless its outta self defense. just the fact something bad could happen to anyone, serious, it would make MMA look bad. MMA gets such a bad rep bekuz of people fighting like they are in the ufc... they even banned smokers in Cali.

I knew there was no way the kid in black could win after the beginning of the second round when that kid threw that leg and caught the other kid off guard. The kid is just too fast, he's outclassed. Hopefully that kid will learn to fight and come back better, I'd like to see a rematch.

Nowadays there are hella places offering MMA. I'm taking my boxing lessons at LA Boxing and they started offering MMA klasses when they opened up.. but it seems the gym is not really equipped for it (not enough space).

I forgot the prices but I think Frank Shamrock's gym was a bit pricey. I believe AKA and USH (Cung's Gym) are decently priced. I went to Cung's Gym for a couple of BJJ seminars with Marcelo Garcia and Ryan Hall.

If I lived in that area, I'd def go to those gyms.

i heard LA boxing is wack.. more geared towards like turbo kickboxing classes and shit.

if AKA was closer that would be my no. 1 choice.. best gym in cali and one of the top 5 gyms in the nation.

It was at first. But they had MMA classes (the one I was at, the teachers kept changing.. so it sucked) but was alright. At first I signed up bekuz of the bundled price when it opened up. But then 3 months later, they said I had to pay extra for MMA. so after the contracted ended, I didnt continue.

As for the cardio boxing/kickboxing, yup, that is true. But they have instructional boxing classes now. I dont have a membership anymore, but I'm kool with the instructor, so I go when I kan.

but that cardio boxing is good as well. If there is one thing that should be stressed is cardio. BJJ kan get you great.. but stand up and being fatigued is another thing. Its why you see alot of great bjj players get gassed when in mma (Alberto Crane for example).

as for AKA.. I agree. There are some good schools in the Bay area... def not as many as LA. But martial arts wise.
you got 10th Planet here by Denny, 3rd street boxing partnered with some bjj group (gi).
