BAY SHIT IS STILL IN THE PROCESS. IT HAS RESURFACED..BUT THIS IS ONLY THE BEGGINING. ONCE THE BAY HAS A TRACK RECORD OF GOOD MUSIC WHERE IT'S NOTHING TO COME OUT WITH KNOCK THEN WE ON. ONCE MORE NEW ARTISTS ARE ACCEPTED FOR THEIR OWN STYLE WEATHER IT SOUNDS BAY OR NOT THATS WHEN WE WILL SHINE THE MOST ACROSS THE BOARD. THE MENTALITY IS STILL SORTA ONE SIDED OUT HERE.

you can tell who's album is not hot if the only people saying so are that particular artist/group and their friends/entourage on this board...

and also if they are the only ones uppin their own threads...

I blame Bayside as being the ones who granted distribution to those that didnt deserve it on a count that they were wack. They were giving distrubution to damn near anybody who approached them, thus flooding the market and begining the trend of everybody in the Bay Area having an album out.

Yup, because those cats had "big names" on their shit, that was the only way to get distribution. That is the exact reason I put NO features on my first album, only my boys were on, and I didn't get distribution. Now the shit is selling, it might have had some down time, but cats are scoopin it now...and I can say I did it my way

dont limit it to the bay,to me the whole industry is flooded right now.....
No it's worse here. Go look in any other area, it's not like this. The indy movement that gave us all the good shit in the 90's is what's given us so much garbage now. Everybody out here learned how to make their own CD's and started putting out bullshit. It's not this bad in other regions...... Yet.

Another thing I think is a big problem is that cats that are actually tight can put out hot songs but wack albums. It seems like most of these albums will have about 5 hot tracks, but the rest is bullshit. For example that new Yuk comp, I thought some of those tracks were hot as hell, and Yuk was spittin fire, but overall the album wasn't great at all. Mac Dre is the worst with this IMO. I'ma mac dre fan but honestly the majority of his albums suck, that don't mean they don't have hot tracks, but overall its not worth my money. Beats is a big problem too. I might get dissed for this, but I think Rick Rock beats are horrible, and it seems like everyone is following his trend. I think them Federation songs are corny as hell, and the beats are all repetitive and really don't flow at all. I really don't even bother checkin for new music anymore, I'd rather just stick with old shit when people made ALBUMS and not songs. Shit flowed and was well produced, and I don't mean just beats, I mean PRODUCED.

I'm just kinda ranting so don't mind me, I'm just tired of all the hyping albums get and when I actually peep em the shit sucks...

I'm jus bummed with all the untalented rappers who can't write lyrics for shit...everything rap now is yelling some crap or saying a line over and over (till u can't stand it no more)..rhyming the same word in a verse over and over...where is the fucken creativity?...beats are average for most of the cds coming out in the bay....what happen to all the true lyricists? You listen to Mac Mall-Illegal Business...that to me is one example of quality...tight beats...tight flows...lyrics are on point....shit never gets old..u can bump it all day everyday...I'm sadly not feeling that with a lot of these new releases....some of these cds are so bad...u feel like throwing them out the window....

there is no RIGHT answer to this.........i think it's all about hard work and who u know. your hard work, and the right connections can get u in the door, and how long u last, its up to you. u can say it's flooded, but it's the people that are out there, and promoting are the ones that will suceed. passing out 10,000 flyers will not get u far. if u think about it, half of the flyers will be thrown away on the floor or in the trash. like i said, i have don't have the right answer, but just posting u got a cd out on this web site is not workin hard. obvious if yoru shit is weak then it won't last long, but if u have a solid single or album, u should push. easier said than done, but it's all about how much u want it. everyone walking around thinkin they gonna blow like gunit, just because they put out 1 cd that took them 2 years to make. gunit drop a mixtape once a month, or aroudn that...........good luck to everyone.........it's hard, but the people who want it, will make it.........

Bottom line tho I think everyone is entitled to make music in the end. It's everyones right to make music and release it if they have the drive and resources to do so, no one should stand in the way of anyone else doing somethin they enjoy, even if they are terrible at what they do. The feeling I get from these type of topics is that the people who are not up to standard should quit making music, which is not true.

Yes ofcourse the fans have a harder time digesting everything out there to find what they are looking for, but because some kid with a computer & a mic wants to make a mixtape or album no one should tell them they can't or that they're overfloodin the market IMO.

You are right, but at the same time that same kid with the computer and a mic should respect the game (as well as others) and not look at making an album as something you can just crank out in one month in ya mommas laundry room. Aproaching the game in that manner is why WE (the Bay) are in depression mode at this moment- people thinkin this music shit is easy. I am not saying that they don't have talent, but talent ain't enough and we all know that.
On another note EVERY reigon has weak artist the only difference is that their "quality" artist have major backing to display what there "best" have to offer- we don't. There is a bunch of bullshit out here (hell some of yall might think that The Frontline is bullshit) but there is also true talent out here by the boatloads and in due time I think the cream will rise to the top and show the nation what we already know- that the Bay has what it takes to be a strong force in the industry.
