unless peyton manning is coming to SF resign alex asap! besides if we invest to much into a QB, we are going to have to let a lot of key pieces walk on our defense. I don't know about you guys but it was nice having that defense to always fall back on when shit hit the fan.
Peyton Manning is coming to SF

couldn't complete a pass on 3rd down, we had endless opportunities to win the game. He had a poor game.
This is quite an understatement, I will admit he did fine in the first half vs the Giants. But towards the end of the game he choked when his team needed him the most, he was back to his old self just lobbing balls out there completely missing receivers.

Why not move on and just get a better QB? I say keep him but is that really the guy you want to rely on, your defense is nearly perfect so just get a good QB to run a hard offense and you have a complete team. Honestly with the way the 49ers play I'd get a scrambler.

Were talking about a guy who couldn't complete a pass like 5 drives in a row, even Harbaugh said fuck it and started going with running plays a few times.

Even Matt Millen said that wide receivers were not getting open after he watched the tape. Not only that, but there should be blame on Greg Roman the OC. Gore and Hunter should of gotten way more touches towards the end of the game. It's all good. Our squad is young, beastly and our coaching staff is one of the best in the league. I've got 100% faith in whatever Harbaugh/Baalke do.
yeah because alex smith wasnt looking off safeties and corners. he's average at best IMO. i mean if you have no problem waiting 3+ years and hoping the defense either ages well or not get an ego and go else where for more. that team will look exactly like baltimore's been looking since john's been there. scary good and no1 wants to face them sure, but when it comes to when it counts the young qb cant cut it.

let me re-phrase this: i say keep alex (unless someone better becomes available)..I trust the coach and his decisions....look where it got us his 1st year!!! That to me say's a lot especially with virtually no off season to get this team that far was a WIN for me!!!!

I want him next year unless we could get Matt Flynn and then Id like to see who would win out in camp, the Oline played like shit this year yea it got better but still gave up the most sacks and I would like to draft WR's in Rounds 1, 3,5,6,7 and draft two corners in the 2nd n 4th, Crabby, Kyle Williams, Brent Swain... i mean that shit is so hurt, even with morgan and ginn were still hella weak there I would rather have victor cruz than crabby

I definitely wouldn't sign him to a big long term contract. Give him a year or 2 or franchise him. Of course then again if he does really good it will require more money to resign him next year.

If you give Alex Smith some good, tall wide receivers he could be really good. He has to have some more pocket presence though and not get spooked so fast.

What would you think at taking a run at Peyton Manning?

idk about manning...who knows if he will ever be the same after his neck thing...he might be done. the only person i think we could bring in that would be better than alex is maybe matt flynn, no other names really jump out. i think flynn is gonna be realy really good.

i like crabtree but hes just not the player i thought he could be. maybe draft a big WR and trade crabtree. we need a big body down in the endzone and someone fast that that stretch the field

The reality is, the 49ers aren't the type of team with Baalke at the helm to throw a truckload of money at any free agents. Matt Flynn is going to get cashed out, and could be the next Cassell or Kolb, so I'm glad that Baalke takes that approach.

Alex can sometimes be hesitant to pull the trigger, but as he gets more comfortable with the offense, he'll gain confidence.

Really, having better receivers would be the most beneficial thing for him.

We aren't likely to come across a better QB in the offseason, but even besides that, Alex fits our system perfectly: Take care of the ball, make smart throws, make plays with your legs when needed.

He's done that all year long.

The guy threw 5 picks in 18 games this season. That's remarkable.

I say sign him to a 2 year deal, let the young guys develop. We are still one of the youngest teams in the league, and I have full confidence in our staff's ability to find talent through the draft.

I'm going to laugh at everybody that was wrong about Matt Flynn...

Bringing in Manning for a season would be a great idea, but would Alex Smith take a pay cut so take room for P. Manning?

This thread should be about what wide receivers the niners should sign or draft because the 3 qbs next year will be Smith, Kaepernick and Tolzien. Would not be surprised to see one of the 2 rookies traded and we draft another guy. Harbaugh wants to blaze his own trail.

Who gives a fuck? DHB's team fucking blows. Crabtree's went to the NFC championship.

Anyways, Eric Davis brought up a good point. If Harbaugh can do what he did with Alex why wouldn't he be able to do the same with Kaepernick? Kaepernick is his guy. They drafted him in the 2nd round for a reason. I hope one of the rooks gives Alex a run for the job.

Raider fans will always put down crabtree after all the shit AL took for taking DHB before him or any other WR for that matter. So I'm not surprised by their opinion, but i still don't see why 49ERS fans have a problem with him. Are you guys still holding onto the shit he pulled as a rookie?? Yeah he held out, it was nothing against the team in my opinion, the guy just wanted the money he believed he was worth. Since then he has been solid as far as on the field performance and keeping away from the media and not feeding into the whole Diva image the media so badly wants him to be. I never hear him bad mouth the team, when he has dominated a game I never see him go stand up on the end zone podium like Vernon Davis did and get a 15 yard penalty. I will take another WR on this team asap, but i still want crabtree and morgan to hang around. The rest of the WR's on this team can go line up next to Terrel Owens next season for all i care.

LOL @ DHB being better then crabtree, isnt DHB the guy who catches balls with his chest?
