The reality is, the 49ers aren't the type of team with Baalke at the helm to throw a truckload of money at any free agents. Matt Flynn is going to get cashed out, and could be the next Cassell or Kolb, so I'm glad that Baalke takes that approach.
Alex can sometimes be hesitant to pull the trigger, but as he gets more comfortable with the offense, he'll gain confidence.
Really, having better receivers would be the most beneficial thing for him.
We aren't likely to come across a better QB in the offseason, but even besides that, Alex fits our system perfectly: Take care of the ball, make smart throws, make plays with your legs when needed.
He's done that all year long.
The guy threw 5 picks in 18 games this season. That's remarkable.
I say sign him to a 2 year deal, let the young guys develop. We are still one of the youngest teams in the league, and I have full confidence in our staff's ability to find talent through the draft.
