Keep him or cut him?

His development was great this year, I don't see any other good QB becoming available outside of the draft and that's a gamble anyways. I say keep him and let him continue to flourish under Harbaugh.

They'd be stupid to cut him. I called him a bust years back, but he played fine the whole year and damn near led the 49ers to the SuperBowl. He didn't cost the team any games this year (like he used to do).

couldn't complete a pass on 3rd down, we had endless opportunities to win the game. He had a poor game.

IMO he cost them the NFC championship game with his 3rd down completions (or lack thereof) with help from kyle williams. But I do think 1 game out of 18 is still pretty good, he can definitely be coached up. Don't think he'll ever be as good as Steve "I just got another concussion, that's the 6th one today" Young no matter how much he's coached up. Montana comparison is completely out of the question. He's approaching Jeff "I'm not gay but my boyfriend is" Garcia and should pass him with the way this year looked.

He had a poor game sunday and couldnt convert on 3rd downs. I still say keep him with no more than a 3 yr deal. If he sucks next season, bring on Kaepernick for 2013 season. He will be ready

Not trying to make excuses for Alex but there was very few times I saw our wrs get any separation, we need a real #1 Wr we have been lacking for years. As far as getting rid of him, if harbaugh sees a better option pull the trigger and let Alex walk. With that said what other options are out there?

it doesn't make sense to cut him now when he had his best year and had played terrible his whole career.

On CSNBayarea.com there's an article about the QB position and Alex Smith it's not guaranteed to be the #1 QB ..

Harbaugh wants the QB's we have now to fight for the position ....

Yes Alex Smith did pretty good, but in the championship game he failed.. he missed quite a few passes that could have gone for a TD..

but what we really need is some WR's and DB's .....

it was one helluva of a season and I'm happy with it....

unless peyton manning is coming to SF resign alex asap! besides if we invest to much into a QB, we are going to have to let a lot of key pieces walk on our defense. I don't know about you guys but it was nice having that defense to always fall back on when shit hit the fan.

I still say we pursue Matt Flynn and a receiver...

Dwayne Bowe, Steve Johnson, Colston, Brandon Llyod, DeSean Jackson...one or two of those WR's would be a great addition to the team..

Niners won't pursure Flynn and a lot of those wide receivers are not Harbaugh/Baalke guys. I wouldn't be surprised to see Crabtree traded in the offseason. One thing everyone on this team has in common is they are team players with emphasis on the team first and blue collar workers. Crabtree aint one of either.

Alex will be back. Hopefully Tolzien can make a run at the job if hes ready. Don't have any faith in Kap but hopefully i'm wrong. We desperately need receivers tho.

Even Matt Millen said that wide receivers were not getting open after he watched the tape. Not only that, but there should be blame on Greg Roman the OC. Gore and Hunter should of gotten way more touches towards the end of the game. It's all good. Our squad is young, beastly and our coaching staff is one of the best in the league. I've got 100% faith in whatever Harbaugh/Baalke do.
