Lakers are done now, Howards injury i hear will have him sidelined for at least 3-4 months. I can now envision Howard to Brooklyn, don't think he enjoys playing with Kobe much. That defense is terrible giving up over 101 ppg 26th in the league, too slow to get back and defend. I think age is a factor kupchak needs to consider in the offseason, gasol, kobe, metta, and nash can't get back quick enough against teams that love to play fast and push the pace i.e. clippers, grizzlies, thunder to name a few out west.

For tonights game, they almost came back to pull it out against SA. Only 3 that showed up for tonight i thought were kobe, metta, and who would of ever thought earl clark from louisville. D'Antoni i believe is too offensive minded, and the numbers do not lie definitely a lack of equilibrium in LA.

As for the Spurs Pop is like the Belichick of the NBA, Spurs always tend to show up, and play with a lot of confidence and energy for Greg. I won't be surprised if he sits Jackson next game for getting ejected, Pop and the Spurs organization don't put up with that nonsense.

If the lakers dont make the playoffs, it will be the largest melt down in modern day sports. How do you make a trade for a 100 million dollar player and miss the playoffs? Not to mention you have the 2nd best player of all time on your team and 1 of 5 people to ever have 10,000 assists and you miss the playoffs?

I don't disagree with the general statement.

However, the truth is that the expectations for that team were much greater than they should have been and that they were entirely contingent on everyone being healthy and playing up to their reputation. And that has not been the case.

When Gasol is on the floor, they have been pretty much playing 4-on-5, especially in defense - maybe it's because of injuries, but his decline has been precipitous and it's hurting them really really bad,

Nash is 39 year old and has always been a poor defender.

Kobe has been great on offense, but the truth is he has been playing horrible defense.

Howard is obviously not his former self and even if he was, he can not play defense 1-on-5.

Finally, in general you need a solid roster overall to win in the NBA, and the bench is once again quite bad - it has been bad for almost a decade and they won two title despite that, but last season and this season it is particularly atrocious.

Add to all of that lack of chemistry and the suspicion that D'Antoni simply isn't the man for the job (but they're pretty much stuck with him because they can't afford to hire yet another coach and keep paying millions of dollars to the two coaches they will have fired this season) and it's not surprise they're 15-20 (likely to become 15-21 today)

Names and reputation alone are not enough to make things happen in any field.

they'll make the playoffs, they'll get it together, im not a fan of them but i believe when you have a group of new guys, n new coaches, shit like this takes time...they'll sneak in 7, maybe 8th spot.

imo the lakers did the right move, kobe didnt like mike brown at all(remember last year) when kobe is unhappy he gets what he wants. plain and simple, now did he ask for mike d'antoni, who knows? but obviously a better move for l.a. bring bacc that uptempo style of basketball bacc, lob shit up left n right when nash gets bacc.
Errrrrrnnnnttttt!!!!
