They bought the house in May of 05 for $270k.
It was just re-assessed to be worth about $360k, which is probably equal to about $600k in the Bay or Cali.

Sucks though, cuz it looks like the 2 of the same exact houses, right around the corner, sold recently for $189k, which cuts their value in half. Looks like Johns parents house is like his life, he owes more on it than its worth.

its all relative though. their house may be cheap but they dont make nearly as much as people out here do. i was going to move to texas a couple years back to be closer to my family. houses out there are dirt cheap...but then again you are only making 30k a year. its the same difference
