anytime you attend a sexual orientated class.

Just picture a bunch of elementary kids attending a gay assembly in school. After this gay ass assembly, the kids that are barely learning to make their own decisions (kindergardeners, 1st graders) will be easily manipulated from this speech. These assemblies should never take place.....ever!
parent consent is required. the majority is religious beliefs against gay marriage. the rest are racists to begin with. i could care less one way or the other. what needs to stop is the gays and any other organization rallying behind things that have no merit. if you want to be gay and married, no problem. it just doesn't affect me. if it doesn't pass, find another fight thats worthy.

Benny,

It is the REST of the world, not just the countries I gave working examples of.

Please name all the countries, that hold some sort of weight in the world, that allow gay marriages & I will happily move away from this debate.
Even if it was the rest of the world, would it matter? Look at all the major countries that had slavery and believed that people with dark skin had the "mark of cain" on them, and deserved to work in servitude. They justified to themselves as well on (bogus) religious and societal reasoning. They even argued that they had it better being in advanced culture than being back in their native countries.

What's your reasoning for voting yes on 8?

Those examples don't make sense because they involve someone physically abusing another person. I don't see how you equate marriage with physical violence.

I don't equate marriage with physical violence.

I was having a seperate discussion with I Pokulu Iouo Mumu (pick an easier name to spell lol) about his comment that "if it doesnt affect you, who gives a shit?"

Same-sex marriages are also legal in Belgium, Canada, Norway, South Africa and Spain, along with three states in the United States: Massachusetts and recently California (for status in California see California Proposition 8 (2008)) and Connecticut[14]. In 2005, Spain became the first country in the world to recognize same-sex marriage (including adoption rights) on equal terms and under the same law.

but not california now.

Where are you drawing this distinction??
What distinciton?

A man beats his wife in Florida...?
OK...that sucks and i dont STAND for beating your wife...but its doesnt CONCERN me. Not agreeing with something and CONCERNING yourself with it...not the same thing.

A stepmom locks her daughter in her room 23 hours a day....?
See above.

A guy rapes a girl in NY....?
See above the see above.

Surely none of those things affect YOU, but I would be suprised of you didn't give a shit about them?
Again, giving a shit is not the same as being concerned. I do not AGREE with those things, true, but they arent important enough for me to make a thread out of them or go on a smere campaign about it either.

There are also no bills to vote or propositons in place for any of the examples you mentioned. The point is, the government is making a fuckin HUGE GOODAMN deal out of this, and MAKING it a concern/issue. If the whole gay marriage thing just happened without all the press, do you think these folks would give a flying fuck? I doubt it. Just like everything else political, the government gives YOU a choice, which then leads to campaigning for a "yes" or "no", either "this man" or "that man"...and people pick sides and it becomes a whole thing. Just like with Obama and McCain. Why did people vote for either of these clowns? Becuase they are the choices THEY GAVE US...we didnt "choose" anything.

My point is, is it really THAT big of a deal if two dudes get married? I mean...is it REALLY that big of a deal? How does this affect anyone if it happens? If the media and government did NOT make it an ISSUE...would you REALLY care? Would anyone REALLY be CONCERNED about it???

I feel certain institutions belong to certain groups.

& I feel like the institution of marriage belongs to Heterosexuals.

Apparently I am not the only one who felt the same way.
Could you elaborate because your answer is a little vague and too general.

Some of the people I know voted against it because they see homosexuals as an abomination before God, and are going to Hell because of it. These same people tell me that my skin color is a curse right outta the Old Testament.
Others told me that they just don't want to see fags in public doing what other couples do.

None of the NO ON 8 people I talked to worried about the ramifications of redefining it (in terms of giving polygamists more ground to argue their case for getting married), which I think is a possibility, however slight.

And the YES ON 8 people I talked to either dislike gays, are on some holy roller bible shit, or "saving the children!"

A group majority doesn't always mean it's the right thing. Group majorities in southern states wanted to keep segregation.

Because some people are concerned that by giving homosexuals the right to marry it will become more common in society and accepted, to the point that it will produce more gay individuals in the US.
Kids are very much influenced by what they see growing up, and some people also worry that their kids will become either confused or gay. And you can only shelter your kids from the world for so long.
