WHY ARE PEOPLE GETTIN MAD CUZ PROP 8 PASSED? DOES IT EFFECT YOU? SHIT IM GLAD IT PASSED.
Why did white people support the civil rights movement? They weren't affected by racism. It's about giving every American the rights and liberties that every citizen enjoys without being discriminated on race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

No, you're wrong. It keeps us from calling it MARRIAGE! That's all it does. Oh, and where in the constitution does it give gay people the RIGHT to marry? In any case, they have civil unions and domestic partnerships, which is almost the same thing, just named differently. They still have all the same LEGAL RIGHTS...even a little more.
Are you sure?

"Proposition 8 is an initiative state constitutional amendment on the 2008 California General Election ballot, titled Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry"

But, ill let you tell it.

Domestic partnerships dont get the tax breaks married couples do, so dont pull that mess please.

Just because you don't agree with calling a gay union "Marriage" doesn't mean you hate gay people. That's the problem with this country. Somebody doesn't agree with something, and all of a sudden it's HATE! I don't hate gay people, I don't even slightly dislike gay people...I think they're off the hook. I just don't agree with calling it marriage.
You would be surprised how many people hate gays on here. However, I am NOT surprised.

They don't get tax benefits, huh? Not on the federal level...but this here is a state issue. Here's a list of some of the benefits gay folks get in California. Here, they file just like a married couple...I'll let the facts tell it.

As of 2007, California affords domestic partnerships all of the same rights and responsibilities as marriages under state law (Cal. Fam. Code §297.5).

Among these:
Making health care decisions for each other in certain circumstances
Hospital and jail visitation rights that were previously reserved for family members related by blood, adoption or marriage to the sick, injured or incarcerated person.
Access to family health insurance plans (Cal. Ins. Code §10121.7)
Spousal insurance policies (auto, life, homeowners etc..), this applies to all forms of insurance through the California Insurance Equality Act (Cal. Ins. Code §381.5)
Sick care and similar family leave
Stepparent adoption procedures
Presumption that both members of the partnership are the parents of a child born into the partnership
Suing for wrongful death of a domestic partner
Rights involving wills, intestate succession, conservatorships and trusts
The same property tax provisions otherwise available only to married couples (Cal. R&T Code §62p)
Access to some survivor pension benefits
Supervision of the Superior Court of California over dissolution and nullity proceedings
The obligation to file state tax returns as a married couple (260k) commencing with the 2007 tax year (Cal R&T Code §18521d)
The right for either partner to take the other partner's surname after registration
Community property rights and responsibilities previously only available to married spouses
The right to request partner support (alimony) upon dissolution of the partnership (divorce)
The same parental rights and responsibilities granted to and imposed upon spouses in a marriage"

Separation of church and state. We don't all follow one religion, our rules shouldn't be created from what your religion or their religion believes, if that was so there would be a lot of problems. And you have to teach your children about life and what goes on in it no matter how weird you feel about it, death, sex, drugs, rapists, etc. Seeing as how we have gay people out and about these days, this should be no different. Even if you don't want to you could stick to the same old fashion "let's ignore it and let our child find out about it themselves when their older" which isn't wrong, a lot of people do it but that shouldn't make you take away someone's right.

Just because you don't agree with calling a gay union "Marriage" doesn't mean you hate gay people. That's the problem with this country. Haha @ you taken the "you" as "Sydal". That wasn't aimed at you man, that was basically towards the majority, because a lot of people who don't want this hate gays. I understand some people don't hate them they just want the marriage thing tho.

Oh I know it wasn't aimed at me, but since I am one of the people that went against it, I decided to speak on it a bit. I know a lot of cats that just hate gay people, which is retarded...they think gay folks are just trying to spread "Gay", lol. I just wanted it to be known that I'm not one of those dip shits.

Just picture a bunch of elementary kids attending a gay assembly in school. After this gay ass assembly, the kids that are barely learning to make their own decisions (kindergardeners, 1st graders) will be easily manipulated from this speech. These assemblies should never take place.....ever!

I 100% do.

Please give an example and I will let you know.

Where are you drawing this distinction??

A man beats his wife in Florida...?

A stepmom locks her daughter in her room 23 hours a day....?

A guy rapes a girl in NY....?

are you supposing every non-christian country is cool with homo-marriage?

Islam don't allow that shit, in India, you are cast out if you are fag.. not given the right to marry.... China? pft! they'd murk homo's if they ever tried to make a law FOR gay marriages.
And look at the fucked up examples you gave. Some Islamic countries have law based on their holy book and make the women wear drapes over their heads in the fucking desert. You cheat on your husband and get stoned to death, men can have multiple wives but not the other way around.

India still got the caste system where your ranked in society by class, and your stuck with it for life.

China is communist, not to mention all the human rights violations. You on the internet too much and your family reports you, you get put in boot camp till you kick your "habit," with or without your approval.

I agree that gay marriage shouldn't be taught in schools and that gay teacher in SF taking her class to get married is some bullshit. But the local news said that California public schools are NOT required to teach that shit, and if a teacher tries too, the school board and community have the final say in the matter. Not to mention theres way worse shit kids are exposed to at school and in our society but no one protests that shit.

On churches, they don't have to do shit. If someone is gay and wants to get married, and the church is against it, they don't have to marry them. If I'm muslim and my wife wants to get married in a Catholic church, that church won't marry us unless I convert. If I don't want to, I can't get married by that church. Same with the gays. Churches don't have to marry them.

Those examples don't make sense because they involve someone physically abusing another person. I don't see how you equate marriage with physical violence.

I voted no on prop 8. I'm not gay, but who am I to say these people dont have rights? Not to mention its not gonna effect me at all AND its not gonna change anything. Gay people are gonna be living together no matter what, Just a wedding makes it more official.

I didnt think people would take this serious, seeing how fukd up Marriage is nowadays. High divorce rate, people having kids before getting married, people abandoning kids, guys wanting no part of a pregnacy, people NOT wanting to get married..., while the gay couples seem to be the more opposite, they want to get married, have kids, raise kids, adopt kids...

I'm catholic, but I can careless about someone else marriage. adn I'm not a radical hardline catholic either kuz I sin alot. ahahah
