About to turn 24? No disrespect homie, but you're a youngster, so I wouldn't expect you to understand. I'm 32. I grew up when rap, not just BAY rap, but rap, period, started. I used to breakdance and all that shit. The Golden Age of Bay Area rap started in 1987 when Too $hort blew up with "Born To Mack" (his best album by the way). By '93 it hit it's peak and started to go downhill I'd say in about '95. But that's just my opinion. Regardless, like I said, Mac Dre evolved/changed his style and his shit STILL came tight (and I've BEEN bumpin Mac Dre since '89, I bought the 12" of "Young Black Brotha" with "Too Hard For The Fuckin' Radio" on the B-side). Now I'm not sayin that Mac Dre is better or vice versa, I'm just sayin that if Mac Dre could do it, why couldn't 40? I don't know if I believe this "trying to go commercial" argument, cuz in all honesty, this album ain't too commercial. At least not NATIONALLY commercial. I still think 4o and Keak's styles are too unorthodox for cats in other regions to feel. I HIGHLY doubt that the MTV crowd will feel this album.

I can dig that man. You've seen it all happen and change, and I could definitely see why you can't get into this newer Bay shit. But I think in your case it is an age factor. You're just growin' out of it. And all this new hyphy/go dumb/ignorant shit just ain't your flavor. I still feel you in some degree.

Bottom line for me is: I love that music that we used to say was "tight" or "knockin" (back in the early 90s) and was kept in your CD player for months on end. But this new Bay sound that "slaps" (?) or "goes dumb" (another ?) gets played a few times, then put away and forgotten about. Real rap music with concepts and meanings is rare these days.

Mr. Miggs is at it again....
^^^ Stop getting fucked in your ass... your bleeding. Now, this album is cool 2 me, it is new and diffrent. That being said, I would trade half of the beats for some off of "Breaking News". Lyrically he's dumpin on this album. Many of us miss the old sound of the bay but now it's time 2 move on!

Then you would've been makin a better statement.

yeah, i dont think E-40 ever changed, which would have been good if he still had g-funk beats... Ghetto Report Card only has 3 good songs to me

People need to stop living in the past. Music will never be like that again. So you have to accept the new style of music and listen with a open ear....Just enjoy the music......We can't keep comparing it to the old stuff or else we'll always be disapointed....

damn. people startin the hatin hella quick..I realize alotta people dloaded the album early , but it just came out yesterday. I wasn't impressed with Quinn's the Rock AT ALL the first few times, but I had a hard time takin it outta my player just to put 40's in becauser it grew on me. It is aeasily one of my favorite cds in the last couple years.
