And to answer the thread's original question... No. Mystic did well and is probably as big as a female MC from the Bay will get. The fact that she didn't just rap helped her a lot with the crossover appeal.

and as far as doing the whole sex image, lauryn didn't do that...it helped that she sang, but she didn't sell herself as a sex object...niether did mc lyte, heather b, rah digga (who is from jersey, not ny), and a few others that got deals and got out there....were they marketed correctly and huge successes? lyte & lauryn were, but the rest weren't....I know a female that can run circles around most men with her writtens, and she's not getting on tracks shouting "we rockin stilleto's hoe" wearing skimpy ass clothes....will she make it & make a change in the industry, who knows, but I do think eventually skilled females will take their place in hip hop....I just hope the dope ones don't get exploited/try to exloit themselves like shawnna & the rest...

There's one who impressed me (not bay): Dominque from Pittsburgh, she gots 2 tracks produced by Studio Ton on D-Boyz II compilation proving she can spit.

But it's a long way to make it big in this music industry...

Every Coast has had a female M.C representing them at one point...The South has Trina and Shawnna, New York has a few(Lil Kim, Remy Ma, Rah Diggah, Foxy Brown) L.A at one point had Lady of Rage. Why hasn't the Bay had a female MC blow up like them?? Now would be the perfect time to take advantage because of the Movement thats going on in the Bay. Females in hip hop is a reflection of society. It was all good back then when Salt-N-Pepa came out cause mothafuckas wasn't grabbin' their nuts in fear like they do nowadays.

The minute a female MC is expected to be a WOMAN in all aspects and not a hoe or a dike ass gangster, is when they will return on the scene. But the reason why Bay females isn't comin' up is because we ALL ain't comin' up for the same reason: NIGGAS AIN'T READY!


Don't doubt that they out there, but a lot of MCs hate on other MCs so can you imagine if a female can rip a dude on the mic? Mothafuckas really ain't ready for that. There are a lot of females reppin' out there and they ain't fuckin' their way to the top. But if dudes is always comparing their dick size with each other in they raps, they sure as hell ain't finna listen to a female. We need balance at the end of the day.
