west coast does get more major sales in the underground hustle than the east, dirty south, or stl. but what is a mystery is that why is the west coast the kings of the underground hustle but can't get any major publicity in the mainstream radio/tv level? PG&E, you kick the truth on some saucy points, but i think the major setback is that LA hasn't really made an effort to unite with the Bay for a West Coast comeback. All i see is that LA be claiming west coast unity but don't have anybody from the Bay in their roster. Maybe i am wrong, but so far the mainstream LA rappers don't really try to include the Bay when they do "WEST COAST" concerts. Hopefully, somebody from LA proves me wrong, like whaaaa!

I'm so sick of hearin' these supposedly oppressed rappers blame MTV, BET and other media outlets for their failures! Did it ever cross your mind that you might not be as hot as you think? Maybe you just ain't half the hustler you think you are. It's more likely that these cats are trying to be in a game that they just ain't suited for. The game ain't for everyone. Obviously.

The west coast fell off for several reasons and honestly, they're losin' right now because they earned it. You can't molest the game and think there won't be any reprocusions. You can't flood it and expect for people not to drown. It ain't some kind of anti-west conspiracy like some of you think and you can't blame the internet and bootlegging either because the west ain't been hot for years now.

It ain't 1993 anymore and cats need to let it go! It's almost funny that people are still trying to master a sound from 10 years ago when the rest of the world has moved on. While they're busy struggling to be a part of the past, theres a new generation of young talent thats building the future. Might as well dust off your suade puma's with the fat laces and your best pair of parachute pants (if they still fit) while you're at it!

If your team ain't winning, you gotta be smart enough to know when to change the players if you ever want to get a ring. The west needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. Period. Cats are ready for new faces and a new sound.

If you cats want to talk about this subject then let's talk about it for real.

i been waitin for someone to finally agree wit me. he hit da nail right on da head. u kno, i let some new york cats listen to bay shit. and u kno what they said to me?? they said, "dat shit yall talkin about aint hot right now. athe west too caught up on everyone still tryna be a gangsta instead of gettin this money." and a lot of california cats haven't perfected the art of rhyming. u can be the realest nigga ever, but if u cant rap, u cant rap. period. and DATS y niggas aint feelin a lot of bay shit.........dont get it twisted tho, i stil lthink we gettin slept on...........

I can really care less if the bay "blows up" or not, what I care about is hot music, and to me the bay has fallen off in that regard. Seems like their is only a few hot bay albums each year. Back in the day it was hard to pick up a wack bay album. Seems like everytime I go out and buy a bay album I'm dissapointed....

please say the names of the artist who is whack, so we can get this settled.
There is a shitload of wack rappers in the bay (the market is flooded with em) but there is really no point in listing all of them, and really it isn't just wack rappers, there are rappers that are hot, but put out weak albums...

^^^ completely agree snubnose. it is overflooded w/ wack rappers (at least in my opinion). but so are all other regions. every region needs that one guy to carry the entire region to the top. lil jon did it for the south. it saddens me to say but i really think mac dre was the bay's and west's one chance. not cause he was some extraordinary talent, but he just had that formulaic it factor that the mainstream is embracing right now. look is a big deal and furly had it. his image was just perfect. the dread locks his way of dress, and his whole attitude and swagger (let alone his dancing which is just tight. no questions asked). sound wise, he had that club sound that is big right now. thizzele dance and get stupid have proven to be popular in clubs outside the bay and his newer tracks like retro dance record, or even dredio, in my opinion, were jsut perfect for mtv, bet, the clubs. i really do think he was on his way of getting his foot in the door and once he did he woulda got all his boys in too. the same way lil jon has. ppl dont care that lil scrappy and the rest of those fools suck. as long as lil jon vouches for them, theyll like it. i think mac dre woulda done the same for alot of bay rappers who may be wack (not all of them but most), but its been proven that you dont have to actually be good to be famous. mac dre more than anyone - too short, 40 - i think was just bound for stardom. now its just up to waiting for the next guy to come along who has this same it factor

ITS MOSTLY THAT A LOT OF BAY TALENT ARE NOT SIGNED TO THE THE MAJOR LABELS WHO GOT THE RADIO STATIONS ON LOCK. WE GOT A LOT OF BAY TALENT WHO CHOOSE NOT TO SIGN WITH CORPORATE MAINSTREAM LABELS, AND THEY DO GOOD HUSLTIN ON THE UNDERGROUND LEVEL. IF YOU GET TECHNICAL 'BOUT IT, YOU SHOULD COMPARE THE DIFFERENCE IN HOW MANY EAST COAST CATZ ARE SIGNED TO THE MAJOR LABELS COMPARED TO WEST COAST CATZ. BIG DIFFERENCE. WELL, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BELIEVE IT OR NOT, BUT A LOT OF THE ARTISTS YOU HEAR ON THE RADIO FROM THE EAST ARE USUALLY FROM A LABEL WHO HAS A INSIDE DEAL WITH THE RADIO STATIONS.ALL IT TAKES IS MONEY PLAYA. AND MOST OF THE HIP HOP RADIO STATIONS IN THE US IS OWNED BY ONE COMPANY.MAYBE TWO THE MOST. ALL IT TAKES IS TALKING TO THE GM WHO CONTROLS THE MUSIC PROGRAMMING OF ALL THESE STATIONS AND WORKING OUT A CONTRACT DEAL WHICH A MAJOR LABEL NEGOTIATES. INDIE LABELS DON'T HAVE THAT LUXURY. THE MAJORITY OF WEST COAST ARTISTS ARE IN INDIE LABELS AND THEY CAN'T COMPETE AT THAT LEVEL SO IF YOU HEAR THE SAME MUSIC BEING PLAYED IN THE BAY, NY,STL, OR ATL AT THE SAME TIME, 70 TIMES A DAY,4 TIMES PER HOUR, AND IS GETS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY THEIR TRACK,"WELCOME TO ATLANTA" IN THE BAY FOR 2 WEEKS ST8,...IT AIN'T TALENT. ITS MOSTLY CORPORATE BACKDEALIN.THE WEST COAST GOT THE TALENT AND SKILLZ ITS JUST THAT THE CORPORATE AND MAINSTREAM LABELZ GOT THE RADIO STATIONS IN A HEADLOCK.

u stupid ric flair haha. dont lose faith in the bay, thats the last thing we need. like i said there is alot of 1 hit wonders. i just hope these cats do somethin smart with there money. i mean 1 hit wonders like the weak cats that had the song "Nuck if U Buck" i mean these niggas is stright up garbage, but they get heavy spins on the radio in the south and mid west.

there use to be a time where u can listen to the radio, and actually enjoy a good mix, but everything is all super crunk or tear the club up shit, and now its leaking into rnb, what the hell is going on in the music industry
simple...I've seen niggas sale they own momma dope...that dollar can talk and it rarely has anythang good to say!

DONT GET IT TWISTED

The Bay/West whatever needs to just keep doing what they doing. It aint about trying to sound like the East Coast or the hot rapper of the day. There are alot of talented rappers from the Bay puttin it down. Dont change your format to try and come up quick. Look at the South. MIKE JONES aint trying to sound like no East Coast rapper and he is winning. I respect those cats cus they doing them. You guys who say the Bay needs to change and try and be like 50cent etc... got the game twisted.

preach on my brotha. praise the lord, mayn. halleyluhyah. we just got the lotto #'s. on the mark, boss sauce. if we disrespect the hardcore east coast catz in here, don't take it personal cuz underground hustlaz on the grind tend to spit the truth when we hungry as a muthaF*****. i guess a lot of people are seeing that when mainstream radio slutz don't try to share the paper, it ain't fun when the homiez don't get some. mayn, some of these white radio bosses got so much power, if they told mainstream NY catz to rub the ballz, a lot of the east coast catz be rubbin the damn ballz. thatz what happens when you got one company controlling all of the hip hop radio stations. real pimpin on the next level. if ya recognize the pimp game, some of these cracka execs is pimpin only for 4 mainstream labels. the source magazine came out with a good piece on this issue today, http://thesource.com
it was tight. everybody should read source magazine cuz they talkin' smack on interscope records and speakin on some real shit.

Why does everyone act like this subject is some big secret and the answer is so complicated???

Gangsta rap is TOO SATURATED and if you ARE NOT on the radio YOU ARE NOT getting heard by the white kids that are going to buy your shit.

did 50 cent settle his beefs in the bay yet? I know he got a concert comin up in the bay, so i am just wondering if he made peace with bay rap stars he got funk wit before the anger management concert? if 50 ever did a track with anybody from the Bay, may be he can clear the confusion about why there is so many bay bosses got him on diss mixtapes.

Bottom Line is OUTA SITE, OUTA MIND. If you sold x amount of units 8 years ago, great, but things are way different now. You could have sold 25 thousand units then, but now you have to fight for 2,500 sales. The Bay Area Rap game is thick. I think we are still selling tens of thousands of independent records, its just instead of being only a handful of rappers that I bought their stuff from each City- now there is 5 times the amount of rappers from each City. All got some talent, all get some sales, all coming from that Independent Dollar. Artists need to be consistant, because no namers are doing it. Oh yeah, If I'm Killa Tay, in my opinion one of the Best Hardcore rappers on The West Coast, then all my beats have to be 9's and 10's, feel me. Don't slack on the production. At least your album will go down in positive history as a good album, instead of one that had 5 dope tracks, 7 weak songs and 4 cool ones. And it all boils down to $$$$$$$. In the West we don't have a Big label that is saving our rappers, making them huge stars, with hundred thousand dollar budgets to promote and market Their artist. We out here do everything with little to no money. So we get those little results. E-40 is still the Ambassador, but he has to make sure he eats, along with his family. Thizz is becoming one of these BIGG labels, but will their Promo take one of their artists to new Hieghts??????

And I take offense to the notion that MURDERDOG is the only Magazine showcasing Bay Area-Northern Cali artists. XPLOSIVE Magazine haqs been supporting us for the last 3 1/2 years. Check my file, it's all there. We have interviewed almost everyone in the Bay Area, so your right, the media has something to do with it, but Independently, we have enough outlets to make Bigg shit crack...Take advantage of XPLOSIVE MAGAZINE, SICCNESS.NET, RAPTALK.NET, Your local radio and College radio, anything that your peers are in or reading, get involved.....
