If you can't say something positive about a local West Coast Rapper, then don't say nothing at all. We all need to stop hating... On Frontline, Federation, The Team, Balance, Game, Ghetto Starz, Mob Figaz, A-Wax, Lil Ric, etc., etc., etc. and even Kobe Soz. No one can prove their the best M.C. all you can do is HU$TLE!! Results speak for themselve$$$$....
i honestly feel that being independent is the way to go. when you're independent, you can only expect a certain amount of love because your label is not in bed with all the media outlets like a major distributor. another advanage is: creative control - you're not a puppet just rapping shit cause some CEO wants you to. you might not get air play but you'll make your money. and if you're in it for the money, you're not any better than the greedy major labels trying to profit from the rap game.
speaking of folks fucking up the game for the paper... there's too many. and about 98% of these folks are average rappers/producers that aren't explosive - they don't stand out from the bunch; there's nothing revolutionary about them. i understand we all want to be heard and there's room for all of us, but why not unite? instead of lighting small fires, why not light a gargantous one? like mac dre said in his last interview: about the huge network that looks out for each other.
and what happened to the CALIFORNIA LOVE?! cali seems to be divided not only city-wise, but northern/southern-wise. unity = strength.

i know a couple of producers moving out of the area because they simply aint about to make the money they deserve in the saturated rap game we got out here.. everybody n they mama rappin.. and everybody n they mama holdin up space at rasputins.. and 99 percent of these niggaz is WEAK.. i dont give a fuck how 'dumb' it went.. in terms of what i look for in a rapper.. flow, lyrics, song writing ability, ELEVATION (like i sed niggaz is all on the same shit) 99 % of these niggaz is weak.. thats how it is plain n simple

Name one rapper in history that ever sold 500,000 with no radio or video play lol. You have no clue what you're talkin bout. South rappers barely go platinum in the first place. the only ones goin platinum are Luda, lil jon, and outkast other than that if you check soundcan they all be goin gold or less. Its just that they get radio play so evereybody think they sellin like crazy. Name one south artist that debuted at number one in the last couple years? one good news that they Bay can rely on is that the bay is makin money writing lyrics and makin' beatz for East Coast Catz as Ghostwriters. but, i hear all this talk about the production value being not at the mainstream level and I think its a bunch of confusion. what makes a mainstream beat is not the engineering editing style within the layers of the track, but if the mainstream can relate the message within the beatz. if you speak the truth of the streetlife in your album , then that album should definately be at the same league as any Roc-a-fella album.fosho.Liers always will get caught for not speakin the truth of their lifestyle, and real hustlas will get that paper when the truth is sold,and not given for free.
Wrong. 'Speaking the truth' has nothing to do with mainstream appeal. People, the vast majority anyway, don't give a fuck about the truth. If they did, 99% of these rappers wouldn't be allowed to call themselves thugs, killas, hustlas and pimps.
