Sic Wid It & Young Moe, the word hater & opinon is different. Sic Wid It is a hater. You can have your opinoin, but this cat always bad mouthing the Bay! I'm not trying to bring any type bullshit drama, I'm just telling it how I see. If you got a cyber problem or a personal problem with it, let it be known!!!

U.N.I.T.Y. is what is lacking in these Fillmoe (Bay Area Streets) streets. Young Moe do you know how many Bay Area Cd's I play on my radio station every week that is weak? A lot homie, but I support these muthafuckaz and I tell em why I don't like their shit and they love me for being a straight shootin muthafucka. Some of em will come back with something nice after I told them the real. That's what I'm talking about, tell a cat how it really is so he can come back with some better shit. I bet a lot you cats ain't tell nobody their shit was so so. Man up to that shit if you care about Bay music.

Sic Wid It, Jt is my folx, but he did fuck the game up for some of these Bay Area artist with that recycle shit. When you hear some bullshit music, tell these cats so the will know the real.

Young Moe, Sic Wid It is probaly your potna that why he digs yo shit. Send me a copy like I said and I will play yo shit too and tell you how I really feel about yo shit. There is no hard feelings so I will be honest about your music and anyone else music.

MEDIA: There is more than the kmel and wyld that will play Bay Area shit if the artist really take the time out and do some home work.

i have this theory of "why the westcoast fell the fuck off". during the east vs west beef (pac vs biggie), the west was on fire and was the best coast by far. but i think once both rappers died (pac and biggie), i think the media (mtv, bet, etc.) blamed the death of the two on the westcoast because we personified gangsta rap and that it was our image. now the media has "black bulb" the west for the last 8 years because they blamed the east vs west on us. for example like the source awards in 95 where snoop, suge and the whole death row camp was on there and talkin' gang of shyt about the eastcoast, and i think that turned the media off and didnt like it that we were promoting violence. east was always been about lyricism and just making good music, while the west was about gangbangin' and hardcore type shyt. so i think that was the reason why we fell the fuck off. right now pop shyt is whats hot right now (nelly, 50 cent, ludacris, lil jon, etc), and the gangsta rap is dead (westcoast). the media is keeping westcoast down because they scared that gangsta rap will rise again and make hip hop violent again. just a theory of mine.

It's a complicated picture. Death Row scared tha fuck out of the industry. Gangsta shit on tha biggest stage. Factors died and money was lost. Execs now want a gangsta image without the shit that comes wit it. Minimal risks and huge rewards. Muthafuckas is scared to invest in shit that might still be deep rooted in the streets if it ain't gonna be so lucrative that they can sustain a big incident like investigations, court cases, or deaths. The west might be too real for its own good.
A big part of the reason is radio too, but that's a buisness. Payola is real and radio is the recording industry's ho. Without money from the record companies radio would be broke. That's an undisputable fact. Major companies have major pockets to promote and also use to blackball other shit that is not in their interest to be heard. Advertising is bigger than people think. That shit contributes 2% of the Gross Domestic Product. For those who think it's about quality, it's not. Who are u gonna play? Somebody u like and respect or somebody that's putting food on ur shit?
Another factor is distribution. I listen to mainly Bay shit, but I live in a market of midwest/south music. Record stores here do good to keep up wit Bay shit from '97 let alone current shit. We street muthafuckas. What would anybody else do but burn shit if u ain't got the resources to order it. At one time I didn't, but now, I'm fortunate to have that shit available to me, but I know a gang of muthafuckas that will download that shit till they see it in a store then they snatch it up.That distribution shit opens the appeal to the internet. Mom and pop stores are dead out here.
I agree wit Tay there are too many indy labels, but that is because of cats gettin fucked by muthafuckas in this shit. I bought all that AWOL shit. Them was the days of stacked labels. I can't speak on what happened, but I be listenin to albums and that was a damn shame. That is a problem too. Super rosters are rare.Wu Tang promoted each others shit, No Limit rolled out album after album by that shit, AWOL, Death Row.......am I clear. It's a unity thang. More can be accomplished by a team that is solid than a team wit continuously seperate agendas. I look around and Thizz and Westcoast Mafia are the only ones that have that type of element. Everythang in-house. The in-house production and guest appearances. It could be capped off by a few unexpected cameos, but powerhouse line-ups is what's missing too. There needs to be a super label that them muthafuckas can't say no to developed. Niggas can work out the shares and all that if they wanted to. That's somethin to consider.

QUOTE=KILLA TAY]it's also environment..most of us rap about killin & drugs cuz this is what we are surrounded by here in Cali....murder rap was my specialty but I've changed a lot..I'm not out there like that no more but all my fans want 2 hear that from me..that hard core killin shit really ain't in me no more..even though I have some unreleased material on that level..it's interesting 2 see what people think..it's also funny that people support the gimmicks so much..2 each his own.I try 2 surround myself with what's real[/QUOTE]
Lol. Tay u get my bread ery time homie. Like that movement to other shit. Memories of My Past Time and Last Days are super classic in my book. Most muthafuckas so much fans that they ain't understandin shit. I put a post on here about the paradox of life and muthafuckas ain't understand it. Don't no muthafucka that's half sane wanna stay in that lifestyle forever. There is more to life than that imo. Life gets played by what u got to work wit. If u ain't got shit u gotta build, but ain't nobody gonna get a couple feet off tha ground and be content when there is plenty more air up there to build into. Lotta these fans just see the blatant message and not tha underlying shit. Much respect and keep doin what u do.

damn straight resurrectin threads!!!

my opinion is that the artist's put out AVERAGE SHIT....yaimean?

thats not the only reason...but IN MY OPINION....its a big factor to me...

i honestly feel artists got comfortable just putin out W/E W/E...all they were worried about WAS MONEY...

i didnt feel the same passion as in years past...

the game got salted up with 7-7.5 rated albums....

this aint tru to all artists....just a general statement

u got a point

But there's a lot of hate in that post. You are right by saying that the bay has been trying to master a sound thats outdated but there's two sides to that. You can stick to the script and evolve and win, thats what the south did and thats what we should do. But you are right saying that its too many lackluster artists in the game.

DO ANY OF YALL STILL THINK THE WEST HAS FALLEN OFF??
playa, the west fell off years ago. I think the Bay is still the best underground secret in the rap game. itz damn confusing why the major labels still don't notice that the bay can make that paper in the independent level while still have the style that can be understood internationally.

I heard in the radio tthe Bay delivers da 3rd largest music consumer market in the USA but doesn't have a lot of major label backing for local artists compared to STL, ATL, Nolia Projects, MIAMI, QUEENS, Philly, Virginia Beach, Chi-Town, or even Alabama.

the solution i can think up for the problem is to keep up the unity summits going so we can network and elevate our local rap game back the way it was, mayn.

naw it ain't that they scared of hip hop becoming violent again...they scared hip hop is going to produce a ghetto ikon/a messiah that could wake the dead and stir some shit up...another pac, when that nigga re-invented himself as makaveli the whole westside movement(large commercial endeavors) and him had to be shut the fuck down...

this music has become a method of control, remember ya momma told ya you are what ya eat...

2 me the east talks about the same thing (50 cent and DMX,etc, etc)

drug dealing and killing they just make it and a more water down form and they uasully have just a few type of commercial sounding shit !
and when the west does try such as yukmouth/crooked I/ brotha lynch etc etc
they get denied so 2 a certain extent i blame the east for this

me im a future artist myself and i look up 2 cali especiallly bay/north cali

beCuzz 2 me they tha real and speaking the real (WESTSIDE)

as for me i can appeal 2 both type of genres gangsta/MAINSTREAM

ON POINT, BROTHA MAYN. I STOP LISTENING TO RADIO WHEN THE WEST COAST FELL OFF. ALL THIS CRUNK SHIT IS JUST AN IMITATION OF OUR HYPHY STYLE. WHO CAME UP FIRST, WHO KNOWS? LIL JON SHOULD KNOW THAT THE BAY BEEN GETTIN' LOW BEFORE HE EVEN CAME OUT WIT DAT TRACK WITH THE YIN YANG.
NOT TRYIN' TO DISRESPECT NOBODY BUT THE WEST COAST FLAVA WILL ALWAYS BE TOO HARD FOR THE RADIO. THANK GOODNESS FOR BART AND ALL THESE NEW BAY SUMMITS FOR UNITING THE YAY TO GET THEIR PAPER,MAYN. WE DON'T NEED SNOOP TO BRING THE WEST COAST BACK BECAUSE WE GOT THE SICCNESS AND BART TO DO IT.

Greed and Politics.
damn right. the west coast gots to be united for summits to put aside any personal beefs to make their block shine. its good to be greedy cuz we all got bills to pay, but we got to remind people at the top to give back to their hoods by opening up some doors to unsigned hustlerz. thats the problem i see. don't want to single out anybody, but when certain people reach the top, they forget where they came from and start busting crunk this and that and not share any of the success with any local catz.thats just my opinion.

^^^^ You hit it right on the money! To be honest with you I *AM* going to start putting these people on blast. Now is not the right time because I have my hand in the lions mouth but soon people will get the BIG picture on whats happening in the bay and all the politics and greed that goes on. Some of these people don't give a shit about local talent nor do they care about their family members who are also in the game.

When the people at the top do look back they look back for a select few and most of the people are folks they have taken advantage of and worked over and over and over and over.
