It just depends on what your angle is.

the rent of the spot we're lookin at is $350-$400 a month...

bein open 6 days a week.. we gotta make round or about $20 per day .. which is $480 .. $80 should pay the utility and phone bills (all long distance and collect calls restricted :) )

our product will be $9.99 and less ... we aint carryin no big major label titles unless we get um free or dirt dirt cheap... and they'd be $9.99 or less. If we were to do it.. our goal would be to minimize overhead and to offer products to our niche market at almost wholesale prices. So the way we look at it.. only 1-2 or two folks gotta come in per day and spend $10 or so each... and anything else is bonus.

another good idea is also to have a alternate bussiness you run out of the building...... if its large enough.... such as a studio....... set up your studio there, then you have 2 bussinesses in one place.... such as 80 west.... i know a lil bout it cuzz me and my homie who also has a studio wanted to get a place and sell cd's as well as run the studio there instead of at the house....

we've seen a few Store / Studio ventures... and most of them didn't work out and a couple never got off the ground...

When you have a store / studio you got people tryin to hang around and we aint tryin to have that... we gonna keep um separate, because our studio isn;t open to the public.

Ms The funny thing about that is the our reputation is speaking for it's self we have people that DRIVE ALL THE WAY FROM MERCED,MEDESTO,MADERA,BAKERSFEILD ETC..

I would never call you guys COMPITATION! We have a good business relationship wouldn;t want to screw that up!

But all i'am sayin is that it is hard,Yeah you guys would be selling cd's $8.99 but you are forgeting those people that listen to SNOOP,2 PAC,TIM MCGRAW ETC. You'll be losing 100's-1000's of dollars,

For example look at my homie who runs ROYAL MUSIC! a few years back all he was s3elling was CHICANO rap,But he knew he couldn't survive off that! So he started selling the MAJORS wich you would have to probably pay $10.99-12.00 wholesale WHY STOXK IT IF YOUR NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY MONEY?

ANYHOW GOODLUCK!

we'll cater to our niche market... that's it...

we aint trippin off the people that want the mainstream stuff... they'll know where to find it. at this point, entering the business we're only interested in gettin things goin and breaking even ... our goal is to establish something solid from the gate and establish a little longevity. We're gonna see how this strategy works out for us. This store is FUBU... for us by us :)
Our fellow indie folks.

its amazing to me that the wherehouse is in a worse financial situation then tower records. first off tower charges more money for its cds, doesn't rent movies, and doesn't sell used cds (90% of the stores). how can a place like the wherehouse have cheaper shit, which means more customers and have more things for customers to purchase and still have no money? i think something else is goin on here or management is just stupid as fuck. or it might be the fact that they get stuck with 1000 mc hammer cds cause they don't know when enought used cds of one title is enough.
