i said it made no sense, because he said money is to be made with concerts because they cannot be bootlegged, but someone can watch a watered down version of a concert without being there, you could still sell merchandise there because you have the people's interest and attention

although merchandise can still be counterfeited in the street, mixtapes and bootleg shirts

Going to a concert =/= the same experience as watching it on youtube for so many reasons, i dont even feel like listing them.

If you would rather watch a concert that has been filmed on a crappy cell phone "cam", than actually attend it....then you are just being a straight asshole. Even though I RARELY buy anything these days, I would go to a live show in a HEARTBEAT, than attempt to watch and listen to the distortions that "live concert footage" tries to pass off.

Artists have been doing that for a few years now (Radiohead, Barenaked Ladies, a Bob Marley re-release, etc.... It hasn't caught on too heavy yet with hip hop artists, but it's seems like a good way to diversify for the people who don't care about having the physical album.
