i said it made no sense, because he said money is to be made with concerts because they cannot be bootlegged, but someone can watch a watered down version of a concert without being there, you could still sell merchandise there because you have the people's interest and attention

although merchandise can still be counterfeited in the street, mixtapes and bootleg shirts
oic, my mistake. but from my point of view it really can't be bootlegged since the experience that you are paying for at a live show when done correctly can not be compared to a digital video on youtube. tech n9ne is a great example.

yeah, but people still watch it at youtube, there's broadcasted concerts online and television
take for example this video,

keep in mind that this video has close to a million views
is it stealing cause you didnt pay for a damn thing?
yet people still go to his concerts cause watching it on youtube or other online broadcasting is not like the real thing

T.I. also managed to sell 568,000 albums, (more than double of 2pac's "Me against the world" first week sales) how did he still manage to sell that amount, while having his album being bootlegged in the streets?

how did wayne still manage to sell +1,000,000 albums even when the bootleggers where making a huge fuzz about how much they were gonna bootleg his album?

making it valuable to get the physical cd, it can still be done
what are you trying to say? since i can't see you all i could do is read your text and from what im reading you keep on saying the opposite of what you previously said.

the whole time i was basically saying people will not stop coming to concerts because you can not bootleg a live concert. a youtube video can not give you the same experience that actually being there will.

as for cds, this number will continue to decline no matter what you do. one million is not that many albums for a top seller. do you remember how many they were selling the 90s? one million would have been mediocre back then. take my word for it, in ten years cds will no longer exist.

DL album = same experience as buying an album, only free

Going to a concert =/= the same experience as watching it on youtube for so many reasons, i dont even feel like listing them.

If you would rather watch a concert that has been filmed on a crappy cell phone "cam", than actually attend it....then you are just being a straight asshole. Even though I RARELY buy anything these days, I would go to a live show in a HEARTBEAT, than attempt to watch and listen to the distortions that "live concert footage" tries to pass off.

im just like you bro lol. the only problem is that the generation coming after us could care less. they've been raised up in the internet generation. most kids are spending their time on the internet now; whereas, when we grew up all we had was tv and the radio.

I thought of that before as well...

If Howard Hughes were here he would say;

"Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...Thats the way of the future...!

There's this crazy shit people used to do back in the day...make good music.

If you have good music that isn't just a copy of what the current trend is that is well produced and well recorded you will sell (provided you actually get out and work your record). You may not sell 100's of thousands of cd's, but you will definitely move units.

i dont doubt he got a distro deal with koch.

kafani did get a deal with koch, and they gave him a really good advance and budget. So it could be true that jon nash got this deal.
as far as a big chunk up front with the state of cd sales in general. i highly doubt it. the numbers dont lie, but people do. if he did, good for him, but out of all the talent in the bay area, jon nash? Who again?

Artists have been doing that for a few years now (Radiohead, Barenaked Ladies, a Bob Marley re-release, etc.... It hasn't caught on too heavy yet with hip hop artists, but it's seems like a good way to diversify for the people who don't care about having the physical album.
