Personally i was able to put the damu life behind me a long a$$ time ago, about when i turned 18. My n*kkas wasnt with it no more, and i wasnt either. We were ready to become adults, to graduate, and the sh*t we did was fun but it had to end. Now 10 plus years later i'm seeing everybody wants to be a blood in the 2000's era. Whereas when i was coming up we didn't have myspace and we didn't have that many rappers reppin for us besides Banging on wax so we were small and real isolated. I feel like its a new movement and if i see a blood like i do now regularly in alamo, san ramon, or wherever i still acknowledge them as my brothers but it wouldn't feel right to jump back into it. That's for youngster's, let them learn. Everybody i know has moved on but i can't knock it because i've been there myself.
My opinion... well, some of these "real ones" need to be checked out more. I know some of his homies that dont fuck wid him like that... Even though he recognized for bangin on wax.
Truth is, alot of underground artists struggled, then all of a sudden, You have these big name/mainstream artists suddenly claiming Blood.
Diplomats was like that. Even though they on that East Coast 9 Tek... they brought it to light... and in those areas of Bronx, Queens, Harlem... 9 Tek, G Shyne, SMM, and Valentines are deep. I know they copied the West Coast (that's another discussion) but that shit spread like wild fire. It Reached the South and Midwest, reached up to Canada, to London and parts of Europe here and there. So you'll here that "BLAAAAT" or "I ride the 5".
Alot of these East coast cats get put on when they are 18 too...
But, I cant deny their influence because, when Dipset was a huge movement, so was the UBN Bloods with it.
Dont follow lil wayne to much, but it seemed he started to fuck with Juelz Santana and that "might" have been the influence.
but he did come out all of a sudden bangin like that.
And of Course Game (I'm not gonna get it to it, but go to Compton and ask alot of people about him). He even said he didnt start bangin til 18.
Even Mack 10... The Damu Ridas was calling him out. B Brazy called him out. Then Tha Relativez was calling him out.
Truth is, Game, Lil Wayne and Dipset actually made it somewhat accepted to be a Blood/Piru.
SAD thing is, the new generation looks to them as "AUTHENTIC DAMUS". Its why people have Game, Lil Wayne, and Dipset myspace backgrounds and shit like that with them flamed up.
None of them can ever...Ever... tell how real bangin was in the 90's and West Coast.
We got people that died for their sets/color, people locked up and people on the run... And these fakes are getting all the glory.

What Big Wy did as far as the Soo Woop Movement, well he walked a fine line really. You either cosigning these dudes... and what are they gonna do for you? From what I understand, He seeked them out, not them looking for approval. I also heard T Rodgers had some issues with the project bekuz of Jim Jones.
You see, these industry Bloods are playing Ping Pong with each other, so if you want to shine off that niche they made, you have to play with them.
Because they all got the pull and hooks up/plugs in the industry.
And real reputable Bloods and Piru's from the turf trying to make this music shit work... and if lil wayne hits you up to do a track... nobody is gonna turn that down. Look at Jay Rock.
My Source of information is my big homey, redrum 781. As far as being a Blood/Piru artist... everyone in LA fucks with him. We went to San Diego, everyone is fuckin wid him. Some of the homies from Sac is part of this project too.
So he got recognition in alot of hoods and when he wanted to put this project together, he said he wanted to be able to do background checks and be able to reach anyone's OG. Because he didnt want to cosign a fake ass person.

As far as bangin all of sudden when you are 30... you missed the bus IMO. I'll put it how my homey from Fruit Town told me. "I'm a grown man with a family... my era of bangin is over. I've been thru it all, and now, I just wanna tell my story".
I think alot of us that are older, went thru enough shit back in the days when it was more active... and anyone that makes it.. has a right to tell their story.
What can Lil Wayne tell me about Wars going on in 1993? It might be a trend to many people.. and it might be a fad to these artists.. and even alot of fans might not understand the Gang idea fully, but Anyone that has ever really been in it.. has every right to put these dudes on blast, Bloods and Crips.

These others that started like Lil Wayne, are gonna do what they did in that video when Spider Loc and 40 Glocc got at them... they realize its real shit to people.
Same with Jim Jones. He said something that he dont be flamed up anymore bekuz people get butt hurt over it... he just dont want people hitting him up for being an East Coast Blood.
