BLock Report- In NY the home of mixtapes you think no name people just jack a bunch of songs and make paypa off it? nah. Them Dj's be havin relationships and the artists feed them songs most of the time. how you think they get them first( I know). Its coo you wanna try and help but i thinik dude just pulled a fast one. Why dont you just give them away. go to amebia and tell them "dont sell this" give it away. If you wanna make a mixtape try building relationships with these rappers, lables, producers then you will get love.
Using unlicensed music is not only stupid, it's easily prosecuted. Even if they don't have any real money to sue for, you can still force them into bankruptcy. EASY.

Do you have any clue at all how foolish you look sitting here trying to justify your theft of intelluctual property & copyright infringement. Do you realize that you've not only admitted to committing those crimes but have also admitted to making a profit from it. Whether it's $10 or $100,00 you've made, it makes no difference. Do you understand that anyone whose music and/or vocal content you've used without permission may at any time seek legal recourse against you? Meaning, they can sit back & wait until you have some real money and then fuck you completely off.
Maybe you are trying to profit but keep it under the radar. Think if you don't go crazy with it, you can get over real quick.. Or maybe your intentions are genuinely good.. Whatever the truth is, you've already put yourself in the kind of jeopardy a cat doesn't want to be in both legally and in the streets.

Very true. I would have never admitted to doing this especially if I want to continue doing something in the Bay scene. Im sure intentions were good as well but artists and label owners are very protective of their music especially in this cut throat market.
Each song takes studio time, a beat, mixing, vocals and mastering. Doing this professionally and relatively cheap, the song at rock bottom price said and done is roughly 300-500$ ( again, a VERY cheaply put together song that can still sound half way professional ). This is where the artist and exec producer get a little pissed off when they see song X on an album that they gave NO permission to. My advice is call the label, explain your intentions and more than likely, labels will have songs to allow you to use and get them promotion at the same time.

a thought on trying to contact bay area artists and their office numbers:
1)cell numbers change frequently, and aren't always available. and ppl who have contacts don't always want to share

back to my main point though, like spice 1 was saying, and it has been shown, is that we're all sitting here in the bay fighting over some petty ass chicken scratch and don't nobody really got shit to show for it. if i wanted to make some quick bread, i wouldn't even bother to bootleg a bay area album, i'd bootleg the new jay-z, outkast, 50 or whoever! no disrespect, just real talk! the customer base is over 100x larger for those artists (the number of bay artists who sold over 10k last year is pretty samll folks, and 10k is pretty small compared to a pastor troy's 100k and flip's 100k independant. big ups to bo loc for goin ghetto platinum tho.)

the inherent problem with a *free* product is that it's free to you but costs me. so realistically, for me or anyone to spend their time, effort and money on more than 100 free units (expense only with no recoup with nothing to really gain) would be far-fetched and very unlikely to laughable. the internet works, but the people gotta know where to get it and have a reason to listen (those who already do probably got the shit already cause most of it's out there). most folx don't go to these sites (siccness, n-ridaz) b/c they don;t know about it or don't care.
