i don't know why the shit's so hard to understand... it's weak shit comin from all parts of the globe... even west coast
folks got their hate-cylinder 427 big block v-h8 engine on rev... it's amazing how quick one can go from zero to salt shaker in such record time...

eastcoast is coo as hell i been there couple times...alotta people think there wack mainly cuz of the beats...now some beats may be a lil shitty they need to work on there productions alot more. Westcoast got more game and talk bout real shit killing alot more, but they only talk about killin more. Eastcoast talks about alot more shit then that and there more lyrically with it, if the beats are not tight then thats not gon be good for them cuz u gotta have blazin eastcoast beats other wise alot of people aren't gonna stick with it

The East Coast artists that are weak, are weak for the same reasons some west coast artists are weak. They have sloppy skills. I prefer some East Coast shit right now though, like MOS DEF, dude's RAW!! The East Coast has a wide variety of TOPICS, something the West Coast lacks. You hear a whole lot of shoot em up, gangbangin raps out here, but you NEVER get an artists true feelings anymore. You heard the West Side Connections new joint? I love them cats man, but they have this song talkin about rappers bein' in love, and this and that...but what about Cube's wife? What about 10's wife? Those cats will never make a track about how they really feel about shit beyond music and what they rap about now, and that holds them back TREMENDOUSLY....

Perhaps I can offer some insight to both sides of this, because I've lived in NY now for 2.5 years. I think that their production is horrible out here, especially the past like 5 years. The only album that had really solid production in the past few years was the Nas stillmatic album, and he had spits on there, so that was a dope album. The production and lack of flow is what kills it for me. They have some terrible delievery if you ask my honest opinion. Rakim and Biggie would spit that shit with a good delivery.
The other thing is, the east coast artists out here, get major love on the radio. There are a lot of shows all throughout the day that the DJ plays what they want, and create a mean street buzz. On top of that, people listen to the shit out of the radio out here. I am a person that NEVER listens to the radio unless i'm in a car that doesn't have a cd player or some shit, even in the bay. But out here, they listen to the radio if they in the car, rarely cd's most of the time. Not only that, they swoop whatever is on the radio, whether it is good or not. This guy i work with is from here (long island) and he honestly thinks that Joe budden is good, because he's sold more records than the people i listen to. I honestly think that Lil Flip could freestyle better than Joe budden's written shit. But hey, he's on the radio, so he must be good right? that's the mentality out here

Well, Miggs, I don't hate ALL East Coast Rap, but as far as what makes some East Coast shit weak--well, one thing that I get sick of after awhile is someone bragging about how bad they are on the mic--an often overused NY topic. Also, sometimes I get the feeling that some East artists use big words because they want to SOUND impressive. They're not saying, "listen to what I have to SAY about this-or-that topic", they're saying, "look how cool I am that I use thousand dollar words. I am so, SO smart!" Also, the beats are often too basic for me--how many times can you freak a loop w/ a drummer who sounds like he's drunk on ten bottles of NyQuil and some repetitious, out-of-tune piano clinking or sore-throated sounding brass/woodwind squealing? Yeah, there's exceptions, but not enough exceptions, IMHO.
Some West Coast artists do get repetitious with the murder shit, but it's easier for me to deal w/ that because at least they're talking about REALITY (and some West cats do so better than others, of course).

I have been all over the east coast and west coast and both got parts of town outsiders wouldn't want to go through. If you haven't been to NY (like I would bet money you haven't been) don't talk about it. Go to South Bronx,Jamacia Queens,Brownsville and Flatbush Brooklyn, Hells Kitchen, not to name many other parts of NYC and tell them how pussy they are homie. LMAO.
