Pittsburgh could use an NBA team considering we'll have a brand new arena in 2009-2010, but that would flop. The city can barely afford to support NFL, NHL, and MLB. We almost lost the Penguins this year, and the Pirates haven't been competitive since before I hit puberty.

I agree that leagues can't afford to be watered down anymore. 32 teams is about max.

I just wish the Patriots would call themselves the Boston Patriots so everyone in Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, etc. would realize that they don't have a professional football team.
they used to be the boston patriots.

How many times has the NFL been in LA? I know owner ship was the problems with all of them but naw, they had thier chances.
Still, there's something wrong when the 2nd largest populated city in this country doesn't have a team in the most lucrative sport. They say the people in L.A. ain't want a team until USC's resurgence a couple years back. It's fucked up when Houston's team did the same thang L.A.'s 2 did and about the same time, and they've had one for 5 years now

Anaheim got offered an NFL team about 2 years ago but the city turned it down. The NFL wanted to pay 1 cent a year for the land. Now they are turning that land into some big shopping and office center (Paltinum Triangle, something like that). We got offered an expansion or the Cardinals.

Football: LA
Basketball: Kansas City
Baseball: Kansas City (The Royals would move to the minors, where they belong)
whoa whoa whoa...i was agreeing with everything you said until you blasted my Royals, atleast you could have said "move them to the national league where they would have a better shot at contending".

on a side note...the Royals are not the worst team in tha league right now jus so ya know chief.

They still are pretty much a minor league club.. But they have a couple players with a decent future...

but I pretty much said that because I couldn't think of a city to put a new baseball team in.. Teams should probably be moved out of Tampa and Possibly Florida, they could relocate somewhere, I guess.

your tigers were a "minor league" type of team a couple years back also, yet they are one of the best teams in tha game now...my Royals are on the up n up, they'll be good 2 go in a couple of years for sure.

They were, basically.. Except most of there players were in the actual minor leagues at the time.

It's just the Royals, to me, seem to be afraid to spend a lot of money, which could in turn hurt them.. The Tigers weren't afraid to pay big bucks to draft picks like Justin Verlander, Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller and soon Rick Porcello. There saying Porcello, a draft pick, is due for a 10 million dollar signing bonus, and he was one of the top pitchers in the draft this year, and he dropped to the Tigers because they weren't afraid to pay him.. The Yankees were also going to pay him, but the Tigers had an earlier pick...

Miller got a big bonus last year and surprisingly, he's already contributing in a big way.

In two years, Cameron Maybin is going to be the next great OF.. He's batting .303 in the minors with 30 stolen bases so far.. He could be called up next year to bat at the eight spot and replace Craig Monroe at LF.. Then we have one of the best young CFs in the game, Curtis Granderson, who has become a stud defensively and has improved his offense and strikeouts big time this year.

The Royals have some good young players too, like Gordon, but I don't know much about there minor system.

i think our owner finally figured it out, that he has to spend some cash to make it...the Gil Meche signing was just the tip of the iceberg. 5 years 55 million, everyone thought we overpaid for him but the Cubs offered him tha same deal just 1 less year so did the Blue Jays. If the Royals wouldnt have gotten him and some other team did everyone wouldnt have made such a big deal about the signing but since we did, we got crapped on for it...lol If the Yankees or the Sox would have signed em...best believe it would have been called a "great" deal. Meche's stats compared to Dice K's arent that far apart but on the wins and some strikeouts...other than that they are pretty much even, and how much did they pay for him again??? lol

The Royals werent the only team that passed on Porcello in the 1st round ya know, quite a few teams did in fact pass on him. Our franchise has been SHIT tha last 15 years or so including drafts, free agency, etc. etc. Now that Dayton Moore is here and finally convinced ownership to spend some cash, its on its way up in a big way...just like your beloved Tigers turned it around, we're on the same track.

we got 4 damn good young players in tha lineup now...Gordon, Teahan, DeJesus and my boy Butler...keep an eye out for him...could throw in Gaithright and Pena as young players on the rise also...I would have said Ryan Shealy also, but as of late he is turned to crap for some reason...lol

I like Gathright..

Yeah, I wasn't even implying that the Royals were a main team that passed on him.. More to the fact that the tigers turned it around because they are spending more money. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact the Dave Dembrowski is an incredible GM He's built three teams that made it to the world series. (97 Marlins, 2003 Marlins [He drafted most of the players] and 2006 Tigers). Plus Mike Illitch spends a lot of money on the team now that Red Wings have a salary cap and he has to limit his spending on that team...

He's also realized that Detroit is a baseball town and he'll make a lot more money when the Tigers are successful than when the Wings are.
