As some of you know, I am involved in a new publication entitled Southwestbound Magazine. During it's creation some months ago and up through it's first printing recently, we felt that a good name for it was Southwestbound because we felt it entailed all that we represented including the Southwest, West, and Northwest since it's name includes all of these regions.

However, lately there has been some confusion to our name and it has been met with some resistance. In your opinions is this name appropriate for a magazine based in the Bay Area but with coverage of artists from all over the West Coast, Mid-West, South, and South West? Or should we change the the name to simply WESTBOUND?

Opinions only please. If you have seen the first issue I assure you the second one is going to be much tighter and feature alot more West Coast and Bay cats.

Thanks for your help?

Peace

IMHO, whatever part of the world or subject a magazine is covering in its articles, the shorter the title is, the better it is for its prosperity (catchy, easy memorization, less confusion,...).
So to me, WESTBOUND is better than Southwestbound, WEST goes for all the parts you mentionned (West Coast, Mid-West, and South West... the only missing one is the South...)
peace

Whenever I saw the name of the magazine mentioned it made me think of just the Southwest region. A change may be good, but then again changing it to Westbound could give off the idea that it's all West Coast related.

Possibly something other than Westbound??

12: How can I get a copy of the first issue? You know I need to see that. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Also if you ever need a writer, please let me know. You know I'm down to contribute.

MY OPINION IS EVEN THOUGH IT MAY BE A WEST COAST RELATED MAGAZINE, YOU MIGHT WANT A MORE UNIVERSAL TITLE SINCE YOU GONE BE DOIN STORIES ON MORE THAN JUST JUST WEST COAST ARTISTS. I WOULDN'T USE ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH JUST ONE COAST CAUSE YOU STILL ALIENATIN ANYONE NOT FROM THE WEST COAST. I'M SURE YOU'LL BE GETTIN ADS FROM ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER. THAT'S MY 2 CENTS.

I SEEN THE FIRST ISSUE, CONGRATS. WE NEED TO BE A PART OF THE NEXT ONE... HIT ME WIT YA INFO ON THE PM

I think you need to strategize as far as who you think your strongest buyer market will be. I think Southwest is a good way to go because you have a strong market in both the south and the west. That way you wont lean either way, makes it look as if youre supporting both markets. Both those places got hot music, so I would run with that.

What's Rappinin B-12? I think the title should be something epic like something real big but at tha same time still grounded to tha streets like tar is. I personally don't like the whole coast thing cause it does limit you to what your readers will be. It's got to be more GLOBAL and not so much local but at the same time catchy and not soft. I'm sure the name will catch you by surprise cause that's how shit works sometime. I'm right herr if you need anything fella. Tell JayTee and Mark Smeb I said What is........Your potna from tha USyAy, RHYTHMX HIGHENAZ $ickWid'It Vet.

p.s. Keep in mind that both "controversy" and "nicotine" sells. What else does? Try to raise some eyebrows with your magazine title as well as always teach the reader something new within those pages. Words are very very powerful. You can infiltrate their minds with the southwest, midwest, northwest and West after you capture their attention. Then everything else will go according to our evil plan.........HA! Take Care famo.

Sup B,

Like Mac said, you need something global.
Don't limit yourself with the title, I think ya'll should come up with something totally different for a name. Something that's not even associated with any Coast/Side....

Even if you cover all sides with in the pages, ignorant muthafuckas will always judge a book by its cover....
