I was having this discussion with friends of mine yesterday & wanted to get everyone on the Siccness take on this matter since there are some intelligent cats on here(as well as some dumb mothafuckas).

Now if the goverment was gonna eliminate welfare for good in 2008 but it was up to the people to vote "yes" or "no" on weather to keep it going or not what would be your vote? At the same time they would keep food stamps(ebt) around for people who have part time or low incoming jobs & they would also keep child action as well for people with low income that qaulified.... what would you vote ?

YES.. eliminate it..

But if I was someone on it.. i'd say no .. and keep it of course...

But since i'm not.. I vote Yes.. get rid of it.. make those hos.. work! their foot ain't broke...

But I think think they should still provide help to people.. who are in wheelchairs.. or mentally insane.. etc..

I grew up on it....transitioned off it....so of course I believe in it. Keep it around, but shift the focus to technical training and upward mobility. Nobody in their right mind would work a hard labor job for $5/hour when they could get free money.

Depends on the situation. I want to say no because a lot of people take advantage of the system, but then people see it as taking back what they've been denied.

People get so dependent on welfare they get new jobs but still like using welfare as a second form of income.

It's also a state of mind, some people expect to get high paying jobs but won't settle for mediocre pay so they stay unemployed and dependent on the government.

They say fuck the government but use their help, ironic

I wouldn't vote at all because I DONT GIVE A FUCK. Never used it, still don't today...

I'm sure there's some who really do need it, but I believe the majority don't. Seriously...you work at a minimum wage job, and so does your spouse, and money's tight with 4 kids? GET ANOTHER FUCKING JOB.

I mean if they kept child action & food stamps around for people with low income salerys or part time workers(like I mentioned in my original post) then that would be cool. If they got rid of welfare that would serve as a motivational purpose for people to have a lil hustle about themselves 2 get off they ass & get some money. Even if u didn't bring in that much money atleast u would qualify for foodstamps.

I voted that some people do need welfare. My family was on welfare when they first moved here from Vietnam. They couldn't get high payuing jobs because lack of education. I wasn't even embarrassed when Mom's would use food stamps to purchase food. It fed the family. I'm blessed to finally make it out of welfare and on my own 2 feet. Our family is doing just fine now. It's definitely a struggle. Everyone wants to come to America for freedom and the opportunity to excel to make our lives a whole lot better. And better it is. Not everyone was born within a wealthy family either. Shit back in Vietnam our family was ballin! before the fuckin Goverment took all of our property out there. Fuckin bastards! We still have land there too!

what about when youre on your ass for six months w/o a job, you gonna survive stealing garbanzo beans? It suck that people exploit the system, but some people need it, not everyone on welfare is sitting on there ass all day, and what the fuck do u know your god damn 17 years old

There are definitely people out there who abuse the system but there are people who truly need it. It needs to be reformed and more screening needs to be down to weed out the free loaders.

it's just crazy how you can be supportin' your family one second.. get laid off.. and be homeless the next.. i think people on welfare should get job placement assistancel... i'm not really familiar with welfare.. do they give free medical? and money.. or just food stamps?.. answer that and i'll have a better reply.
