First of all...Filipinos ain't even Filipinos just like Indians ain't Indians unless they from India. But that didn't stop mofukkas from callin' them that shit and going "woo woo" with they fingers clappin' they lips.

Filipino: Comes from the name King Philip of Spain..a COLONIZER. Before, there were seperate Baranguays and even 40 dialects. When they were colonized they were all lumped together and established Tagalog as the native language, which is what usually happens when ignorant colonizing ass warmongers don't take the time to ackowledge cultural differences, even within the same country.
"Asian-American": the term was coined in the San Francisco State strike of '67 because the Japanese, Chinese, and especially the Filipinos needed to come together in solidarity and support of Ethnic Studies. It was created because there was strength needed in numbers.
Filipinos are MALAY and NOT MONGOL: which means they are NOT direct descendants of Chinese people. Their DNA is similar to Malaysians, Indonesians, and other Southeast Asians. In the mountains, there are Negritos that look like black folks. The closer a population is to the place of colonization, the more "mixed" they look. And by the way, EVERYONE is mixed.
As for the "Pacific-Islander" thing, same difference. Technically it is in the Pacific Ocean, but people who claim this would rather not be associated with the "ching chong" aspect of being Asian, ESPECIALLY because the Japanese attacked, raped and pillaged the Philippines during WW2, and Chinese folks STAY gettin' money in the P.I. as well as everywhere else, while everyone else, especially the natives, stay in utter desolation on their own land.
My advice...take Ethnic Studies courses, esp. @ SF STATE.
