EVERYONE IS CRYING AND WHINING ABOUT THE BAY NOT GETTING SHINE. I HAVE BEEN IN THE BAY MY WHOLE LIFE AND I HAVE SEEN THE GOOD AND BAD TIMES FOR BAY MUSIC. EVERYONE IS SAYING VOTE FOR E 40 ON THE COUNTDOWN AND YADA YADA YADA....... BUT THIS IS THE ULTIMATE PROBLEM:

MUTHAFUCKAS DONT BUY RECORDS!!!!!!

PLEASE TELL ME WHY KEEK AND FAB HAVE NOT SOLD OVER 100,000 RECORDS???? I KNOW BETWEEN SACRAMENTO AND FRESNO EACH OF THEM HAVE AT LEAST 100,000 FANS.... PEOPLE IN THE BAY DONT SUPPORT ARTISTS AND BUY RECORDS, THATS WHY. STOP BURNING SHIT, STOP DOWNLOADING, AND STOP BUYING BOOTLEGS!!!!

IF YOU LOOK AT THE SOUTHERN MOVEMENT (WHICH IS SIMILAR TO THE BAY'S TO ME) ARTISTS LIKE SLIM THUGG, MIKE JONES, LIL FLIP, CHAMILLIONARE AND SO FORTH ALL SOLD WAY OVER 100,000 MIXTAPES AND ALBUMS BEFORE THEY GOT ON. THEY HAD THE FULL SUPPORT OF THEIR REGIONS. WE DONT HAVE THAT HERE.

I REMEMBER THE DAYS WHEN A BAY ARTIST DROPPED AN ALBUM, RASPUTIN WOULD HAVE A LINE DOWN THE BLOCK AT MIDNITE FOR PEOPLE WAITING TO BUY THE NEW SHIT!!! NOWADAYS IF AN ARTIST SELLS 20,000 RECORDS THEY ARE DOING WELL. WE NEED TO GET BEHIND OUR ARTISTS AND BUY RECORDS WHEN THEY DROP!!!!

IMAGINE IF FAB OR KEEK SELLS 100,000 RECORDS AT $7 EACH............

$700,000!!!!!!

THATS ENOUGH FOR THEM TO MAKE SOME SERIOUS MOVES IN THE INDUSTRY. I AM ONLY USING FAB AND KEEK AS EXAMPLES BECAUSE THEY ARE ON THE RADIO THE MOST. THINK ABOUT THIS NEXT TIME YOU SAY THE BAY IS GETTING HATED ON....

When niggas start making good albums then, we'll go buy they shit. (Not just making one hot song on the radio) I'm talking about an album where you like more than 2 or 3 tracks. Make your sound bigger than the Bay and you can blow out of the Bay. Every body wants support. That sounds too much like Charity. If we like your shit we'll go out and buy it. Straight up. Too many Bay artist have they hand out beggin' for support. Grind. Make a brand for yourself and your label.

I AGREE WITH YOU 100%.....BUT NOBODY IS SELLING MAJOR UNITS. THERE HAS TO BE 1 OR 2 ALBUMS IN THE BAY THAT ARE HOT......

There may be 1 or 2 in the Bay that are hot. But, it's a lot of factors to be figured in when your making a brand and really trying to create a star to be the face of your label. It actuall comes down to just more than hot music. Nas makes tight music. But, he's not your Jay-Z per se. If you get what I'm saying.

I would not go out and buy an album that has 1 tight and 2 or 3 listenbale tracks; most albums I hear don't have even 1 track that I like

I would definitely buy an album that has 10 tight tracks on it, but the last such album I heard came more than 7 years ago

That's real. . .If you want an ablum with 10 tight tracks you're going to have to wait until V.Jones drops. Straight up.

Furthermore, IMO 90% of the niggas rapping the Bay is crap. It's time niggas quit acting like they don't notice. Just because I'm from the Bay doesn't mean I got to go buy your music. Make something that I want to buy. Make something that I want to have. I'll go get it. I buy $100 jeans and $150 slippers. So, getting a $12.99 means nothing.

Personally, there haven't been too many albums that I could get into from start to finish. Keak's "Super Hyphy" remix was my favorite song last year over everything else in the nation, but it was by far by far the best song on the album, and it was nothin else on there even close to it. The Federation album had three songs that were dope as hell, and I still play the hell out of em, and then it had 2-3 other ones that I would play, but there were some on there I just couldn't get into at all.

E-40 seems to be one of the few who can make an album good from start to finish. There are about 20-25 Bay songs from the last year or two that I play all the time, but those are usually some of the best songs on the album, and the rest of the album won't be as dope as that.

For real. All you Einsteins are plagarists. Come up with something original to explain why the Bay aint blowin up.

I remember one guy said it was cause all the artists were ugly, started critiquing JT the Bigga Figga, B-Legit and Andre Nickatina's looks. It may have been kinda gay but at least it wasnt something 4,000 people on this board have posted already...

But thanks for the insight Doodie. Personally I think thats a good reason, but there are also several others including quality of release, cost of the cd, mastering, too many/few features, bad/repetitive production, artists releasing as many as 3 solos a year, lack of tv/radio play, etc.

I feel when more "The Jack Aritist" and "Bandannas Tattoes & Tongue Rings" come out the bay, bay artists will sell major units.
I don't know why so many of you want Bay artists to sell a lot while saying that mainstream sucks

Understand that if Bay artists start selling a lot this will be becuase they themselves sold out and I think some of them are already too commercial sounding

Selling a lot means watering down => low quality music

You have chosen a really bad example.

MANY MANY peope aint feelin Keak

Me among them. And the hiphy shit ? That`s only crap, we don`t want that, we won`t buy that. We will buy music when Richie Rich, Luniz, Too Short, E-40 or Ant Banks will drop something. Just some example. The others are crap(90 %).

Just look at this nigga J Stallin for example...you tell me this is a good rapper ? The fuck outta here

There are some good perspectives for the future tough, JP the 13 th among them and others..

Now you`ll ask me who is crap. Here is just a short list:
Keak
BA
The Team
J Stallin
Cutthoad comitte and all that shit taking advantage of Mac Dre`s work(except J Diggs, that nigga got skillz)
Federation
and all that hiphy movement shit

Just think that 100 000 go crazy on weekends but there are another 500 000 niggaz that don`t and are disgusted by this gay hiphy shit. We want music. We want to go smart, not stupid. In fact, how these niggaz go dumb if they are dumb already ?
