Let me tell you guys a really sad story. Last Monday in Sacramento, a young family was hit by a devastating tragedy. A 21 year old woman entrusted her two sons, age 3 & 5, with close friends of the family. The couple she left her children with were friends from their church, and good enough friends of the family to be the godparents of the youngest boy. The couple picked the children up over the weekend, and had them at their home for a few days. I am not really clear on the details, but the couple (ages 22 & 24) beat the youngest son to death. They are now being held in the Sacramento County Jail facing charges of Child Abuse, Child Endangerment, and Murder. The State Authorities also took the 5 year old into protective custody, citing that the mother was negligent in leaving her children with these heinous people. Not only is she devastated over the loss of her baby, but now she is having to cope with fighting Child Protective Services to regain custody of her oldest child. I spoke with the poor mother last night for about an hour, and offered to help her in any way possible. She told me that the only thing she wants to be able to do is have T-Shirts printed up with a picture of the baby on them to memorialize him. This is going to cost her around $500. I know that if we all donate $10 each, that $500 is not a hard goal to reach.
