Every region that has a certain style of rap is always gonna have the copy cat rappers that keep doin the same shit over and over. It just ain't the Bay with the hyphy thang. Look at South rap with crunk. When crunk came out everyone was doin the same shit over and over and over. Look at how hot Lil Jon still is, and his beats ain't changed in the passed 3 years. His last single "Snap Ya Fingaz" has the same instruments and a similar tempo and rhythm as his collab. with Usher and Luda 2-3 years ago. So you can't tell me that makin the same shit over and over don't work, cuze it do in a sense. It may not be that hot to some folks, but you could make sales. Look at Jay-Z, he used to be one of my favorite rappers, shit his last couple albums he fell off. All his beats started to sound the same to me with them loud ass trumpets, shit I couldn't even gig to or feel if I tried. And they still talkin bout he's the greatest out right now. I mean I do feel like the word hyphy is over used to death, but I can't say the music is watered down and that females don't like it. Cuze all the clubs and parties I been to the females are gettin dumb wit the homies in the circles brushin they shoulders off doin the thizz face and shit. So I don't know where that guy was comin from but ya know, just my opinion. Even though the old mob Bay shit is still my favorite of all time, I like a lil hyphy too.

i go to mingles(hole in the wall, hood shit) and the females is going dumb. go to 17 or the air lounge or zazoo's. way bigger spots with better looking bitches and they get annoyed when it comes on. the majority of clubs in the town(i can not speak on anything else) the women don't get down with it at all.

Also what I hate is the South and East got both they garbage rappers and great rappers in the mainstream eye right now. The West ain't got that just yet. Jus hyphy they ain't gone deeper in the West yet.

lil jon had a lot of #1 singles on the charts for weeks at a time.... once you make a hit its okay to try to repeat your own success. now if jazzie pha, and jermaine dupree made beats just like him, its would be a problem

There'sa difference between quality and mainstream. Frontline, Clyde Carson, (THE TEAM), Ya Boy, and Goldie Gold of Fedz got mainstream appeal along with flow style and lyrics. Fabby got a chance also...but i think his voice wont really catch the nation's attention on slow beatz

Messy, Quinn, and others from the bay with similar style or topic of music doesnt really have that mainstream feel to their music eventho it's some good shyt. Federation might just be a one-time thing. That hyphy feel is gonna die then everyone is gonna want something different. Thats how artists with mainstream appeal is gonna survive. Keep rapping about slangin, gunz, drugs, then hyphy, goin dumb, stupid, that shyt is gonna get worn out and qith quickness.

LAST WEEKEND I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SIT DOWN WITH ONE OF THE VP'S OF A MAJOR LABEL IN L.A. (CANT SAY WHICH ONE CAUSE WE ARE CURRENTLY IN NEGOCIATIONS, DONT WANNA MESS THINGS UP) HE REALLY ENLIGHTEND ME ON A FEW THINGS IN THE MUSIC GAME ON HOW PEOPLE VIEW THE BAY.

FIRST OFF, HE REALLY TOOK ME BACK TO THE EARLY 90'S WHEN LYRICS WERE THE FOCAL POINT OF RAP. HE SAID THAT BAY ARTISTS HAVE A HARD TIME TRANSLATING THE HYPHY MOVEMENT TO THE REST OF THE NATION. HE SAID THAT MUSIC (SINGLES IN PARTICULAR) HAVE TO HAVE A GOOD VIBE. HE SAID WHEN HE CAME TO THE BAY HE WENT TO A FEW CLUBS AND WHEN HYPHY SONGS CAME ON, THE WOMEN WOULD MOVE OFF THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD JUST BE A LOT OF GUYS JUST GOING DUMB IN A CIRCLE..... SO WHY WOULD A LABEL WANT TO GET BEHIND MUSIC THAT WOMEN DONT NECESSARILY FEEL? (SINCE FEMALES ARE THE BIGGEST CONSUMERS OF MUSIC ACCORDING TO STATISTICS)

SECOND, HE SAID ALL THE MUSIC SOUNDS THE SAME. HE HAD AT LEAST 30 DEMOS ON HIS DESK WITH A SONG CALLED "GO DUMB" OR "GO STUPID" OR SOMETHING OF THAT NATURE. HE WAS LIKE, "YALL MUTHAFUCKAS ARE MAKING THE SAME SONGS OVER AND OVER. THATS NOT HOT.."

LAST, HE WAS SAYING THAT OUR RADIO DJ'S DONT PLAY WHATS HOT. HE SAID THAT THE SONGS THAT ARE ON THE RADIO THE MOST ARENT THE ONES WHO SELL THE MOST RECORDS..... OBVIOUS SIGNS OF PAYOLA OR PAYOFFS. HE SAID THE TRUE STREET BUZZ IS KILLED. HE SAID THERE IS A LOT OF GOOD MUISC IN THE BAY, PEOPLE JUST DONT KNOW ABOUT IT.......

THE ONLY REASON I POSTED THIS IS NOT BECAUSE I NECISSARILY AGREE WITH HIM, BUT THOSE OF YOU OUT THERE TRYING TO BREAK INTO THE MAINSTREAM CAN KNOW WHAT THE LABEL HEADS THINK........

IM SO SPEECHLESS AFTER READIN THAT....THIS THE SHIT I BEEN TALKIN BOUT FOR YEARS....A BUNCH OF FAKE ASS SHIT...

not hatin on anyone, but what i see is there are hella ill ass artist in the bay area. but once the hyphy blew up a lot of the artist started doin hyphy songs instead of what they were originally doin. some artist just need to stick to what they were originally doin and they got no problem. just do you

all of that shits true, if you've ever read Russel Simmons book, he says the same exact shit. People who follow the trends (hyphy, goin dumb gettin stupid etc...) aint gonna last, stay true to yourself as an artist, those are the ones that you see stick around. I got nothin but love for the bay, born and raised and gonna raise my kids here, but its full of a bunch of followers.

Rappers shouldnt be concerned about radio play or if bitches wanna dance to they shit or not cuz whut REALLY matters is that they stay true to their shit and not sellin their damn souls to git noticed! Thats whut tha Bay wuz about back in tha day and I respect tha cats dat still stick to tha script because their shit will push units regardless who is "GHOSTRIDIN THA DAMN BANDWAGON"! Hahaha damn I'm drunk!

Man, who fuckin cares, Hip Hop is dead anyways. Just enjoy life, you niggas stress off other nigga's careers too much. All of my favorite rappers out here got deals already anyways so fuck what anyone thinks, as long as Yuk, Clyde, and FAB's albums slap I'm good. This shit is starting to get annoying, ya'll analyze the Bay too much and put emphasis on dumb shit. The Bay Area just gets gayer and gayer with every passing minute.
