I believe the mainstream is a much bigger outlet to the nation than staying independant. Of course there is a fine line between the two, but I think the original topic made a lot of sence...not just in the aspect of the Bay, but in general.

If the people in the Bay (be it the artist & fans) truly didn't want the mainstream attention nobody would be screaming "THE BAY IS BACK!" & trying to cast the Hyphy Movement across the nation being that the Bay stay's grimey and real...why scream that it is back if it never left (hence: it's always been underground). The attention it has recieved in the past months have been though the hands of the mainstream.

The mainstream is far greater in attention & everybody wants all eyes on them. If this is untrue, most people wouldn't be atticipating on signing to a major label. Attention comes in the form of dollar signs and that within it self is bound to change a persons attiude real fast.

In whole, I think the original topic speaks on a very important angle that most fail to see. The Game is saturated with plenty of followers and not enough leaders. It's like having an E40 and 4 million wannabe's...the Game already has an E40, what makes you (as an artist) original?

my 2.

im not gon bother to read thru this whole thread, and it doesnt take or should i say it shouldnt take a label head to tell u what or how people feel, alot of music out here has lost alot of substance in it,it seem like ppl stop tryin or caring, after a while artist get caught up within the life of thereof, many only care about hood fame so they gon keep repeatin the same ol shit.we never needed a hyphy movement or anything to get spotlight on tv or apprecenes or what not,cuz ur talent is ur gimmic, stop buying chains and watches and invest in audio engineers and proper studio time at professional studios and write real songs that come from real lyrics deep down inside, that applies to all genres.

i dont know about yal but i for one,'me myself personally' im tired of all this hyphy stuff, they way they be feedin it to the public is ridicoulous, like its all of a sudden "cool?" to be hyphy, from my understanding, hyphy was never a good thing, if you are hyphy all the damn time (meaning you were hot/ doin alot of shit that can get you and everybody else caught up....or just causin alot of drama)

or "yea i remember him,he was tryin to get hyphy wit me when he was wit all his nigs at that party" i mean come on now, iono this stuff is koo n shit but it seem like after we lost a few bay pioneers, its like the artist out here stop tryin, and if they dont do that then they are either tryin to act all big headed n shit when they shouldnt be and its a whole lot of rappers that many look up to as bay legends that act like this,i met damn near all of them, theres only a few good solid cats mayne.

Aside from everything else & stepping outta bounds here (changing the subject from the original topic) for a minute...

Too much too soon is also not a good thing. About it all soundin' the same can be a possibility that it sounds that way due to the fact that the market is flooded hence: saturated...overkill.

Everybody tryin' to jump into the spot light, everybody tryin' to get their face in the camera frame.

Albums dropping back to back is the clear sign of the Master P syndrome...after awhile, people just say "Fuck it." & quit buying your shit.

We dont need Mainstream, Mainstream needs us, we just need the money, look at the songs u see on mtv even bet, the songs gettin requested arent the bay genre of music, lyrics and substance, there is no rapper in the game today with a powerful voice than san quinn, there is no better freestyler, than mistah fab, there are no legends in the mainstream around today like e-40, too short, andre nickatina, i could go on n on, these mtv niggas even too sucka free, for a tv show but they spell it sucker like some squares, anyway we dont need to explode on the mainstream were gonna get national attention once in a while but the focus of bay music should always be the bay, what goes down here, rappers out here first of all arent all what u think of rappers n dont get rich buy chains n move out to get on cribs, but rappers today dont touch the content or talk like we do out here, id rather be unique and treal than conformed mainstream
