I dont think it's fair to compare ya boy with yuk.

yuk is just on a whole nother level he can RIDE ANY BEAT and he mastered his flow and got the rhymeschemes, multis, punchlines and metaphors on lock nobody can touch yuk in the bay period... but yuk been rappin since 92' and ya boy just started give the nigga some time ya boy already tight but he will only get better

i also think the main reason why some people in the bay overhype ya boy is cuz they dont really listen to eastcoast rap. if you would listen to real lyricists then you have someone to compare him to and you would have a much better understanding of what a real lyricist is. to me MAC DRE IS OVERRATED AS FAR AS LYRICS GO he is a great entertainer and has a great flow and a unique style but his lyrics are nothing special "most of the time"

i hate when i read shit like this, means niggas aint been listenin to my music.......

.......anyway.......ya boy's a pretty solid rapper, better then 90% of bay shit out right now....and he comes wit some good punchlines every now and then......i think Turf To Da Club was one of the best songs of 2005 cause it has everything i look for in a song.....a beat that slaps.....and a rapper who spits verses with good multi's and punchlines(sorry, netcee turms.....dats my rap upbringing)........so as a rapper, he was koo......but to keep it real.........he dont wanna go 16 wit me.....sorry.........

ya boy's cd was one of the tightest thats come out recently. . he aint no tupac
No where near tupac and never will be. He's too one-dimensional..

And like the other guy said, I listen to East Coast underground rap and as far as lyrics go Ya Boy ain't nothin special at all. Actually, he hasn't said one punchline that made me go "Damn! That was hard". No substance really, just consistent rhymes. His album ain't too well rounded either. I honestly think the Bay is jockin right now coz his flow is different than most out here. But honestly, I like niggas like Casual, Balance, Heiro, Yukmouth, AP9, and a few other heat spitters a lot better than him. I just don't see the big deal with dude, he was below a lot of people's radar before he signed with Game. Probably not in Frisco, but out here.

Homie is OVERRATED. Too many bay cats act like he'll rip apart anybody in the bay. Some of you only listen to bay shit and that's why you think he's the damn "Talib Kweli or Big L lyrical wordplay genius" comin' out the soil. I personally think Yukmouth is better, E-40, and of course... THE WHOLE FUCKIN' HIEROGLYPHICS CREW. Every MC out that group is better than him, even on their worst days! And that's a fact. Even The Jacka is someone I think the bay is d-ridin' too much. Next thing you know, people are be talking about how Beeda Weeda is a lyrical monster. Like the title of his album, Yaboy is a rookie, but some of ya'll treat him like a seasoned vet!
i can dig some ya boy shit, but he aint the hottest in the sko. Big Rich and star studded are easily the next niggas in line 2 blow from the sko. and the jacka overrated??? PLEASE, that niggas is slept on like a waterbed, jack comes super sick wit it.

mannn i dont care. if a nigga can standout and became famous after 1 song, then he's got something, and think its called talent. lyrically i havent seen anyone in the bay who can spit like him that has come after yukmouth.

First of all, what does Too Short or F.A.B have to do with anything? The only thing that I see them having in common is being from Oakland. But to answer the question, no, to both of them..

Son Of A Pimp had maybe 2 or 3 hyphy songs on it. The rest was either turf shit or conceptual. The Streets of The Bay, Where's My Daddy, all that shit was real music.

Too Short made shit like Gettin It, The Ghetto, Life Is Too Short, Freaky Tales, and he can even get Hyphy. How is that one-dimensional? YaBoy only raps about Violence, period. Never heard him rap about anything else. If he has, point out the song and I'll take a listen. Again, I ain't hatin, I just call it how I see. I agree with the threadstarter..

Thank You.

Most of the cats who agree with me have valid reasons, but everyone else is just giving there opinions on "why they just like him". Like, he's dope, he's only 21, and other hoopla. Face it, a lot of bay niggas really don't know a wide range of hip hop. Probably even music in general. Some can't even name 20 classic hip hop albums without 15 of them being Bay shit. It's non existant when I ask who is: Aceyalone, Jae Milz, Murda Mook, Murs, The Pharcyde, The Grouch, Living Legends, Phonte, Big Pooh, Saigon, Hi-Tek, Phil Da Agony... cats are clueless.... but then they'll be like "YO! THAT NIGGA YABOY GOT FIRE!! NO ONE IN THE HIP HOP INDUSTRY IS TOUCHIN HIM" I respect that there are some people who only listen to bay area hip hop, but most of those dudes don't give other music (outside of the bay) a chance. That's why they have a lack of hip hop sensibility. Thus, creating a crazy hype over rappers that rap only about Coke, Guns, and Violence. <---and it's easy to give nice delivery with those topics because everyone else is doing it! AND MOST OF TIME, SHIT THEY'RE SAYING IS 100% B.S.

I'm gonna say it again. HOMIE IS OVERRATED. I'll stop once people will realize they're wrong, or until YaBoy can actually impress me with his rhymes. Cuz after a while, studio gangsters get played out, and I rather use my car battery on some real hip hop bay shit.
