Briefly: The Giants are leaning toward skipping Todd Wellemeyer's turn after next in the rotation because they have off days Thursday and the following Monday. Wellemeyer would go to long relief temporarily. ... Madison Bumgarner homered and allowed one run in five innings against Portland in his second consecutive good start for Triple-A Fresno.

am i reading that right, Bumgarner hit a home run?

Aaron Rowand is on track to return from the disabled list on Sunday, the first day he is eligible.
Rowand sustained three fractures in his cheekbone after being hit by Vicente Padilla on April 16, but has resumed participating in all baseball activities. "He's driving us all nuts," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "We miss him. We're having a tough time in that leadoff spot." Giants leadoff hitters have been just 6-for-33 (.182) during his absence.

Juan Uribe (elbow) likely won't be able to play defensively until Wednesday.
Uribe exited Saturday's game due to a tight right elbow and plans to rest over the next two days. Mark DeRosa started at second base again on Monday.

im gonna be the only optimistic giants fan and say that wellemyer is gonna pitch a solid 5 innings and hopefully we can score enough runs to beat the phils ... with our bullpen holding it down....

It's hard to be optimistic for a guy who gave up homerun after homerun against the dodgers, this is the phils.. a much much better line up 1-8. I swear if I see another extra inning hanging slider walkoff I will kill someone, this goes for our whole staff too.
