the pats used to have a top 10 defense, maybe top 5 even before the seymour trade, since then they haven't been in the top half of the league.

the raiders have been improving since seymour has been here on defense, and his impact in the locker is even greater than his on the field play. these last 3 -4 games our defense has stepped it up even more. if palmer comes in and improves our offense ill be happy cuz we already have a fierce run game

lol. Jarvis Moss is Timmy Tebow's old teammate, and he's still saying he's garbage. haha

ALAMEDA -- Keep in mind, Jarvis Moss was not outright disrespecting Tim Tebow, ala the Detroit Lions last weekend.

After all, Moss and Tebow played together collegiately at Florida.

But it was interesting how Moss, one of the more outspoken and prolific Tweeters in the Raiders locker room, measured his words when asked about the Mile-High Messiah (Thank you, Ann Killion) on Friday.

Moss, on if he had respect for Tebow's game: "Yeah, at college I did."

Moss, on if he could see Tebow doing things that could cause the Raiders problems on Sunday: "Yeah, like I said, he can use his legs, definitely. He's a good athlete, man. He's a strong dude. he can definitely hurt you with his legs."

Well then, what about with his arm?

Silence. Twelve seconds of awkward silence, with a nervous twitch here and there.

And then: "Uh, I don't want to answer that question because I really want to…Never mind. I can't answer that question."

Indeed, Moss had answered just enough.

Earlier, though, Moss was more expansive on his Tebow thoughts.

"Well, the type of guy he is, you know he's going to try to extend plays with his feet because he can run well," Moss said. "So, you just always got to be conscious that you don't want a guy like Tebow to keep moving the chains on you with his athleticism.

"Another thing is, he might hold on to the ball a little bit. (Kyle) Orton's a guy who's been back there in the pocket throwing it around for quite some time, and he's respectable doing it. I just don't see really see Tim (doing that)."

Sebastian Janikowski will kick for the Raiders Sunday against the Broncos, according to a report from NFL.com.

David Rayner, who the Raiders were keeping on stand by if Janikowski's hamstring was not well enough to kick, has left for home.

Janikowski, who tied the NFL record for longest field goal with 63-yarder at Denver on Sept. 12, did not practice this week, though he wore a helmet on Friday. Jackson said he would watch Janikowski on Saturday to see if he could go on Sunday.

"I think we're going to be fine, I really do," Jackson said. "I think he was able to do some (kicking on Friday), but again, we've got to be cautious, just make sure, so again, we'll cross all the T's, dot all the I's, make sure that he is available the right way. Obviously we need to see him one more day and make sure that he is up to speed and ready to go."

Jackson said Janikowski, who was officially listed as questionable, would have to be able to not only perform on kickoffs, but also on field goals and extra points.

Win something and its a good trade. Trading a 1st round pick for a old guy is a move a contender would make. Thus far your 12-11 with him.
so in your words every team that has a top 10 draft pick should automatically win a superbowl :dead:

lets put it this way, we traded for him and instantly became a better raiders football team.. GOOD TRADE .. finally respectable again.. bad judgment

I'm not tryna backpedal. I don't claim to know every trade Al Davis made. That one was still fresh on my mind and I thought that was pretty dumb at the time. I didn't expect them to even be 8-8 last year. I thought that would be a top 10 pick. Therefore the Palmer trade made me think that's totally something Al Davis would do.
you thought wrong buddy.. once again good trade for Oak.. just like bengals won't be getting a top 10 pick from us either as long as we win games

our defensive identity will change now that Al "4-3 man coverage 24/7" Davis has died.
R.I.P. Al Davis! but yess our defense has been rapidly changing and improving... we are actually seeing a lot of blitz packages and some zone.. no more typical "vanilla" defense that Al loved to run.. we gonna win games any way we can. 2k11 ball

I'm with amy trask on this, everyone thinks hue jackson is making all these moves, of course he adds his two cents to what he feels he needs to improve the team he's the head coach, its the higherups that are making all the transactions. I haven't been losing sleep ot holding my breath on any of the chaos and madness that's been circling my team, we have a corp of young hungry players and they seem to be benefiting from it. Its gonna take some time to even come to a conclusion whether all these transactions either succeed and fail. We have a lot of players hurt and up until this point and as far as I see it as it stands is that we a three way tie for first. No ones hitting the panick button other than the bums that are not raider fans. Tomorrow is gonna come around and on Sunday its win or lose, moral victory or not....

That ain't in my words. I wouldn't want my team trading away the future to go 8-8 tho. That trade sucks if you don't win something I believe but I guess we disagree.

the majority opinion among most of the media and most football fans (at least from what I've heard) is that the Seymour trade was a good trade for the Raiders.

you have to also consider the affect he had on out other defensive linemen... Tommy Kelly sucked before Seymour... Seymour came and Kelly turned into a beast. our defensive line has been sooo much better since he came over

you're entitled to your opinion. I just think your opinion sucks in this case.

i think rossibreath's point is why mortgage the future to go 8-8? if you're one player away, go ahead and pull the trigger but if you're rebuilding, start wih the draft...

there is no denying Seymour is a great fooball player though...

8-8 was just the 1st step.. after 7 years of losing.. oh booy.. bout fuckin time.. and now we will build from that and continue to get better.. normally we wouldn't be ina 3 way tie for first right now.. but were not tha same ol typical raiders.. team has been and is improving.. you non fans just don't see that point of view..
