Raiders have work to do to extend sellout streak
Posted by Mike Florio on October 20, 2011, 3:15 PM EDT
Carson Palmer AP

The Raiders have sold out all three of their 2011 home games. But even with Carson Palmer joining the team this week, the Raiders need some more time to sell all non-premium tickets for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs.

Per a league source, the Raiders have requested and received a 24-hour extension of the 72-hour deadline for selling enough tickets to lift the local blackout. The number of unsold non-premium tickets is in the range of 2,000 to 3,000.

It’s believed that the Raiders will be giving Palmer the start in his first game with the team, which should help get the rest of those tickets sold by Friday afternoon.

Palmer, Raiders WRs work overtime to get 'chemistry going'

Darrius Heyward-Bey was quick to introduce himself to new Raiders teammate Carson Palmer and was among a handful of wide receivers who joined the quarterback for additional throwing following Palmer's first practice with Oakland this week.

Call it an investment in the future -- for the Raiders, Palmer and Heyward-Bey.

With Jason Campbell possibly done for the year due to a fractured collarbone, Heyward-Bey is trying to get comfortable with the player many expect to take over as Oakland's starter.

That could take some time considering Palmer hasn't played in a game since the end of last season and was sitting at home unofficially retired when he was traded to the Raiders by the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday.

Heyward-Bey, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2009 draft, is trying to expedite the process.

"It was very important," Heyward-Bey said Thursday. "He wants to throw, we need to throw, we need to get the chemistry going so we stayed after. We stayed after with Jason, we stayed after with Kyle (Boller) so we stayed after with Carson just to get better."

Two days after acquiring Palmer from the Bengals in exchange for a first-round pick in 2012 and a second-rounder in 2013 that could become another first, coach Hue Jackson continued to deflect questions about who his starter will be.

Palmer, Boller and Terrelle Pryor continued to share reps in practice, though in likelihood the decision will come down to Boller or Palmer.

"I ain't telling anybody anything so you guys can all stop (asking) now," Jackson said. "Everybody's an option. I mean, I could use Jacoby Ford back there if I had to. We have all kinds of different packages we could use. Anything and everything is up and available right now."

NFL Network Insider Jason La Canfora has reported through team sources that Palmer is expected to start on Sunday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I got an extra two free tickets to last week's game and gave them to my Aunt. Maybe that had something to do with some people just dumping them, idk.
I dunno... I was looking on stub hub, craigs list, etc... all last week, tickets were going for 60-70 bucks to sit at the top of Mt. Davis

I'm sure there were some diamonds in the rough... but in general, they weren't that cheap... at least from what I saw

you dumb bitch i was watching chronicle live the weeks leading up to those games and your pimp greg papa said raider fans should be excited they can find tickets online for as low as 12 dollars. I didnt say it was a fact i never went and looked for the tickets myself, just repeating what your pimp papa said. Now stfu and go back to pulling over truckers then offering bjs on the 880 hoping you can scramble a few bucks together to go see the raiders.

C'mon now mijo, don't throw us all in the same bucket with your young still living at home with mommy and daddy's ass. My tickets were paid for the minute they signed the CBA aggreement. That's 4 tickets to each game at $61 a piece (dont forget preseason, they cost the same but I give those away), you can do the math. Now go back to your room, me and your mom have something to do....

I got 4 tickets for half for the price of 2. They have those Go West Hawaiian airlines discount. I'm on the 3rd deck but it's all good because its against the Chiefs. Always a battle. I had Jason Campbell as my backup QB in fantasy and the only week I need him is this week. Brady has a bye.
So now I have Cassel. I hope I don't get any points.
