Right now, a new magazine for the Northwest Hip-hop scene is in the works! We need people to advertize and contribute to make this thing happen! Let me know what you think the people would want to see in a magazine out here. Also if you have an artist who wants an interview, an idea for the magazine or if you want to invest some money to get this thing rolling then let us know!
The NW needs this bad! Once this thing gets started were gonna need people to push it street team style and help us promote it on your myspace, website or whatever!
Get at me!
100!

Thanks for the support people!
Thirdeye...so far the first issue will be 48 pages...about half the size of a XXL or Source! Distribution will depend on how many people we can get to street team this project! Were not set on prices yet since we don't have an exact printing price! It's still in the development stages but i'll be keeping you guys posted!

Those graphics are really bad, is this a joke?

I'm serious.

I wouldn't want to be featured in a magazine that looked like that personally. Get your money up and pay for the proper graphic work, and professional photographers to joint the squad, then bring hype, but this right here I see failure written all over it.

Rep the NW better than that.

Peace.

I gotta agree 100%, that is horrendous. A couple of the photos are not even scaled right.

It also sounds like you need to do a lot more thinking and planning on distribution.

Are you doing this all by yourself? I'd suggest getting in touch with someone like Mr. Ceza.

Yeah...mostly by myself! Jessup did the graphics on it! So far it's just an idea so nothing is set yet! Thanks for the input folks! Critisizm welcome! Any ideas on how to make it better? I have the connections to fill it with some great content but I still have no idea how to get a magazine off the ground! I know it's gonna cost a grip to get it printed! Anyone who has experiance in the Mag biz hit me up so I can pick your brain a lil!
Thans again for the input...if it aint right...i'll change it, but right now, without some financial backing it a $0 budget idea i'm tossing around!

So I need some investors! I talked to Lynch about the idea this morning and showed him the cover so far and he's down to help...i'm just not sure what he means by that yet! He should be getting back to me later! Plus I know that almost all of the money that we get for ad's will go into making it more official...

I second that. This cover looks like...well it looks like shit to be honest no hating. I can't believe some of you were saying it looked hot. The NW will go nowhere with shit looking like this just like an album won't sell for shit if it had a cover designed similar to this one. Sure the content may be amazing but if it looks wack nobody will take it serious. DO NOT SETTLE WITH PUTTING OUT SUB-PAR PRODUCTS. Take your time, do it right, make it look good. This goes for everything not just this magazine.

Look at the covers of rap magazines that are out there now. I'm not saying copy them, people want fresh things not a weak imitation of XXL, but you can use their covers as a starting point.

You're going to need to break off some of your own money before you can get people to invest. I would say look into getting somebody to do your graphics for you first because you have to have a professional look if you want to get investors or people to buy ads. Any rapper that would put an ad in a magazine that looked like that I would instantly lose respect for because it makes them look like a joke too. Find out what software big magazines use to design their content, BUY IT, and learn it. If you're serious about something you wont get a pirated copy of it.

To make money you have to spend money. Don't expect a bunch of investors to just put money in your wallet because you got a good idea. You have to have a plan for EVERYTHING first. Look into getting a loan, it shouldn't be that hard if you have good credit.

I think it would be a good idea to make a sample magazine before you do anything so that you have something to show people that you're serious. Take ads off the internet or other magazines and slap them in there so it looks real. Interviews you could fake or take from other places, it's just a sample magazine and won't be sold or given away so this shouldn't matter if you're using other peoples shit to give people an idea of what you had in mind.
