I dont think that the bay shit went nowhere. I think the bay always been here with artists that been spittin flames for years. There have been some good shit that has come out this year that fucking slaps and i think it is just as good or better as the shit that came out during the ninties. I think that niggaz be stuck in the past and can't move the fuck on. Its 2003 damn near 2004 and niggas still talkin about 95 and 96 that was almost 10 years ago homie its time to fucking move on. When some new shit comes out that is different than the shit that came out 10 years ago, THAT IS NORMAL. The 80's had a different rap style than the 90's and now rap is progressing past the year 2000 so its only natural that rappers gonna keep progressing and there style will change. Niggaz on here be talkin hella shit about hella artists on this message board and i have seen threads talkin bout bay rap fell off gangsta rap fell off whatever mayne. Maybe gangsta rap fell off cuz that shit is played thats why LA fell off. Thats all them niggas talk about bloods/crips and shit fuck that. I think the bay has gotten bigger than the rest of cali and the bay is on the come up. take these albums for example:

Keak Da Sneak - Copium: what an album! Bangs from start to finish and is better than some of his other shit.

E-40 - Breakin News: I heard a lot of hate when this first came out, but when it sunk it everyone started to realize 40 still got it and he super savage. This album shits on any east coast album that came out this year period.

Yukmouth - Godzilla: This shit is a heater! Yuk has spittery and comes wit it on this album. This shit can appeal to all and i think its just as good as ANY other shit he ever came out with.

Too Short - Married To The Game: An example of someone who is keepin shit movin. He still sticks with the flow that got him famous but he doesn't keep it the same as the other too short stuff. He is fuckin with them ATL niggaz and he is doin his thang. This new album is pretty good im likin the beats and he hasnt lost anything over the years!

Now compare these releases to anything else that came out this year. THERE IS NO COMPARISON. All the other shit is bootsy as fuck, i heard that new jay z it is weak. The only other section that has heat and has been comin wit soem coo shit is ATL. other than that the rap game has been slacking. The bay has been still comin wit it and i dont think it has lost a thing.

I agree with you man.

it is just that there hasnt been the exposure that there was back in the early to mid nineties. that is we want. we want to see cats from the bay all over mtv and bet.

but you have to admit that there is a lot of crap that comes out the bay too.

Sure, but let's face it--there's a lot of crap that comes out of EVERYWHERE in the Rap world, not just the Bay. There's a lot of garbage coming out of the South, especially now that everyone there thinks that they have to have booty-shaking and chanting songs...

PEACE!

The sad part about this is the fact that it will probably take years for the exposure to come back. The industry is so fucked up right now with Clear Channel having a radio monopoly and MTV only playing wack east coast shit. Just think, if MTV had been stationed in a west coast city to begin with, like LA, then we wouldnt have to fight through this shit.

i love the bay just as much as anyone else, grew up on it........ but no way in hell is the bay gonna blow these days.......its best shot was back in the mid 90's with e-40's earlier albums, celly cell, mac mall, san quinn, the list goes on.......now, all those rappers are gettin old and the younger generation isn't carrying the torch. the bay will always have heat, but will it ever blow? probably not

Well put. To me, in some ways, the only REAL difference between Bay Rap then ('92/'96) and now is that the sales were better back then.

I think that when Master P hit w/ the more Southernized No Limit (TRU's TRU 2 DA GAME and thereafter) and when Puff Daddy made dance rap popular again, the West Coast in general got abandoned by the media, because, like it or not, the media tends to go for whatever happens to be "new" at this-or-that particular time, and since No Limit, Cash Money, P-Diddy, etc. were "new" to many in the mainstream media in '97/'98, the attention that had previously gone the West Coast's way faded out.

But even if it doesn't "blow up" again in terms of everybody and their brother liking it, those who support the Bay should continue to do so, regardless of whether the mainstream digs it or not. There's dope shit out there IF you look hard enough and IF you're not stuck in the '92/'96 era. Not hating, just being real...

PEACE!

The bay has always been hot, mo fuckas just be givin up on shit.....Look at Jt, he's been in it since it began and he aint never fell off because he is dedicated to making it happen, we need to support all the tight artists whether there from the bay or not, but mostly the underground artists who can't even get they shit on no shelves, much luv to the yay and everyone tryna do thangs....alot of the dope artists that were out back in 92-96 have fell off i'll agree, but there still is alot coming out of the bay that is hot...no denying that..........
