how about the lack of venues for are artist to perform at?how do u feel about that. i see club 17 in oakland gettin alot of action lately.whats to happen when that shit gets shut down,i mean mingles is done for,i dont think theres many places in san jose any more,so whats next if u cant even perform in your own area?

why is it so expensive for a promoter to throw an event for a rap concert.and why is it that u only see bay shows at good venues when its like kmel or 94.9 sponsering it or sum shit...but with regards to rock and alternative its all good and they can perform anywhere,however theres usually more drugs and violence

And about the problems with shows. We have always had that problem in the bay, that is why so many artist had to go to KC, and other places to do shows. What people need to understand is that after CD's pretty much die out, artist will have to make most of there money off of shows and not so much off of sales which, would be mostly digital purchases. It would be nice to be able to do shows at home.

I was thinking the the same thing...they really opened up the doors for new artist to get some shine out here. They had and with the music they are still doing have the right idea. I see it like this...If you are going to have artist make a mark or an influence on the game let it be inovative artist that are trying to carve their own nitch in the game...bring something new to the table. The fact that they were a collective, but different and diverse was opening up the doors for ALOT of different kinds of artist to break through. Now with the hyphy only way of trying to get the bay back on nation wide, it made it just that...HYPHY ONLY. Now you have people not only outside of the Bay but inside aswell looking at us as some fucking pill poppin dumb asses that keep making songs about the same ass shit. I love the bay, but that is not a good look at all. I hope that Quinn, Frontline, Balance, FAB, Clyde Carson and who ever else fits in that boat puts out new albums that are still reppin the bay BUT on a whole other level...with good music, no gimmicks.

By that logic that would mean I shouldn't care about the troops because I'm not in the war. Just because I care about something doesn't mean I need to be the one actually doing the action. I care about the Bay and the music that comes from it. I (as you do) think life is WAY BIGGER than hip-hop, but hip-hop and the art of expression is helping to give some people hope or just the outlet to tell their side of the story on what is going on in the larger sceme of things. If we look at hip-hop as just some rap shit then yeah fuck it. But if it is seen as a culture that we as a whole contribute to and can actually be used as as a means to a better life then we should care. But fuck it...on a basic fan level and showin Bay love I want to be able to see some of my favorite local artist without all of the bullshit that goes along with it.
