Actually i wouldnt mind seeing Vince do good in the NFL, but I just had to ask if the Titan faithful was seeing the same thing I was seeing in his Quaterbacking ability. And Mooreblock thanks for the heads up about their defense the year before last, I dont follow the team that close but I knew that had a pretty good defense last year (at least in the games I had seen). So I guess the question is for now than what has been the hold up up for trying to get Vince some help at the reciever position, because from last year to this year I havnt seen much of a come up.

no one understands the hold up of getting a solid WR.....fisher has had horrible outcomings when getting FA WRs (david givins(injured never played again)...yancy thingpin(played well till got injured...never the same) and in the entire history of the franchise has only drafted 1 WR in the first round...

they are banking on constant 3-5 round picks blooming into a gem.....its a horrible idea....

hopefully after next season one of the disgruntled WRs gets to the open market and the titans make a play.....whether it be Anquan Bouldin.....Ocho Cinco..maybe housh....Roy Williams who ever...

GREEN BAY, Wis. — While everyone else stresses about the quarterback, Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger will have his sights set on another position Thursday night.

During the preseason finale against the Packers, he wants to see something from the receivers.

“I’m really not that worried,” Heimerdinger said of quarterback Vince Young. “If he was going in the wrong spot and not reading the coverages it would be one thing. If his feet were wrong and was off-balance it would be one thing. But I just don’t see those problems right now.

“What I’d really like to see is more consistency with the guys surrounding him. And I’d like to see somebody step up and make a play for us.’’

The offensive struggles this preseason are well documented. In 12 drives by the first unit, the Titans have two field goals and no touchdowns. Young has been erratic, completing 43.2 percent of his passes.

As for the receivers, Heimerdinger called them inconsistent. Starters Justin Gage and Justin McCareins both dropped balls last Friday against the Falcons, but they seem to be the only wideouts in good standing with the coordinator.

Against the Packers the first-team offense is expected to play into the third quarter, its most extensive work of the preseason.

“I’d like to see guys get in the right spots so Vince knows where they’re going to be. If we’re not in the right spots, we’re not doing the right things, we’re not separating, it’s awful hard to look good throwing,” Heimerdinger said.

“I know everybody is like ‘It’s on Vince, it’s on Vince, it’s on Vince.’ Well, somebody has to also get some separation out there and get in the right spot. We need 11 on the same page and we’re all taking turns screwing up.’’

On the spot
Behind Gage and McCareins, Brandon Jones and Roydell Williams have the most experience and each has a chance to take command of the No. 3 spot.

Jones has been among the inconsistent, however, and Williams, coming off ankle surgery, hasn’t been on the practice field long enough to be fairly judged, according to Heimerdinger.

“When Roydell practices he looks good, but the thing is he has to be out there more than once a week,’’ he said. “Brandon is real good and then there are times when he’s not so good. The whole group it’s like someone goes forward and then someone goes back. I’m hoping we get there, and obviously we have to get there pretty soon.’’

Biren Ealy is the team’s leading preseason wideout with five catches. Rookie Lavelle Hawkins has the biggest play of the preseason — a 51-yard touchdown catch — but he’s been slowed by a sprained ankle. Paul Williams and Chris Davis have struggled. Undrafted rookie Edward Williams has shown more in practices than games.

The group is on the verge of turning the corner, according to Young.

“We are close,” he said, “but we still have some things we want to iron out and this preseason game is going to do a lot for us.’’

At the start of the offseason, Heimerdinger said he was confident he could win with the receivers in house. He said he still believes that — unless players keep doing things to change his mind. There’s also a chance the Titans could add a receiver if one they like is cut by another team this week.

“Right now this is our group, that’s our players,’’ Heimerdinger said. “We don’t have much of a choice, so somebody has to step up.’’

It will have to be against Green Bay, the last dress rehearsal for the regular season opener, and an important AFC South game, against the Jaguars on Sept. 7.

“The idea is to get something going and get some momentum going into that game,’’ McCareins said. “We’re not going to show much and neither is Green Bay, but the idea is to get prepared for the regular

this year titans = worst team in afc south, mark my words.
Fargas is better than white, maybe not durability wise but showed he was better last year in less starts. titans would probably rather have fargas over white.
titans averaged 1 more yard per game last year than raiders with their qb rushing for how much on average a game? for example 2 years ago the falcons led the league in rushing and didnt make the playoffs, with out your qb making throws you will go no where. defense can only do so much for you.

our qb was hardly rushing at all...he averaged about 20 yards a game id assume off the top of my head...thats not much...it will probally increase this year...most of our yards came from before our fb got injured last year....then our run game slowed down...Lendale and Chris Brown were near top 5 duo....Lendale White and Chris Johnson is going to be something to watch no doubt....as long as we get steweart back in at tackle are running game will be better then the raiders MARK MY WORDS....

Lendale White and Chris Johnson will get MORE yards then Darren Mcfadden and Fargas....

This is as simple as you can put it and he still won't get it. He'll tell you it's the receivers fault. They're not separating, blah, blah...

It's on Vince but everyone in the Titans organization is coming to his defense and blaming everybody but Vince.

Get the fuck outta here with that shit......i think the management know thier players more then a buster like you....

Vince got called out plenty of times last year by chow/fisher/bud adams......quit acting like its some big scheme to save thier ass to getting fired...you apparently dont know any of the situation because VY was the most scurtinized player last year...fisher doesnt bite his lip for no one and your an asshole to think other wise.....Dinger ALLWAYS got on Mcnair when he was here previously (not sure how bad he was to cutler in denver)...Dinger is one of the most underrated OC in the game...and he is not some sofite like you seem to think if vince was the problem hed be called out.....apparently he thinks the same thing ive been saying was the problem even when norm chow was here....simply not enough talent at the WR postion....the WRs got called out because they had 8 in ONE game last week...they dropped passes for every QB on more then one occasion...dont start that stupid shit of not getting it there in time or what ever because drops are not the qbs fault

DONT ACT LIKE YOU KNOW BITCH!

we did sign FAs, crump and mccarines.......there wasnt any good WRs in FA this year anyways...and only one i really liked in the draft.....it was a poor year for WRs....i was clueless when they picked Griffin draft before last (even though im happy of the pick now).....that year was deep at WR...

hackett and bryant johnson wouldnt of helped much....we got plenty of 3s.....justin gage coulda been our two but he dropped two huge "preseason" passes last game alone...hopefully he dont let me down more then he allready has....Mccarrines isnt the answer it seems and crump is good but lost a step or two..

its not like they didnt try at all...

Well then maybe the problem lies with Vince. Vince has to make them better receivers. So until he learns how to throw a football correctly your receivers will always suck.

or maybe they just suck because they suck? we wont know untill we get some proven depth at WR

the best guy on our team hardly caught any passes on the bears.....he was so far down the depth chart...

if you cant agree that our WR CORE is the worst in the leauge then i dont know what i could tell you....VY has made Gage better because he was never near the level of producing that he was on the bears with grossman....

its nothing some that can be proved without them doing there thing to get a stud wideout...but when a coach comes out and says what ive been saying for the longest that should give you some clues....but youd argue just to argue so what can i do?

his wrs aint worth a fuck. justin gage? are you fucking serious? if hes higher than 4th on any depth chart your team probably fucking sucks. a veteran #1 like joe horn might be able to come in and help.

nah the football wisard seems to think that VY has the power to MAKE wideouts suck.....as in he has the power to make WRs drop 4 balls......2 on huge plays against the first stringers against atlanta

hadnt those drops happend titans woulda been 4-0 in the preseason......vy is that powerful....he MAKES wr suck....because Justin Gage and Roydell Williams.....Biren Ealy all are superstars...there level of talent far surpasses any wideouts in the leauge.....to bad VY MAKEs them suck :ermm:

Damn, Vince went through the whole pre-season without throwing a TD pass.... and it's his receivers fault? He could have had a TD pass yesterday but he underthrew that bomb and the receiver had to wait for it. Just admit it, Vince sucks at "throwing" the ball bruh.

I cut and pasted this post by a real Titans fan:

We are in for a long season.... unless the defense can hold the other team to 10 points every game. Vince I'm afraid is not the answer. Why can't we just have a QB that can manage a game and take advantage of good field position. Field goal, after field goal, after field goal it seems. I know its only preseason but if Vince had 8 td's, 65% and no int's then would we say " oh it's just preseason?" HELL NO ! No one would.... everybody would be talking about how they knew he wasn't a bust and how they knew he would come around. I hope he proves me wrong but here are his stats so far for anyone who thinks I'm a hater.

Passing

Att. 64
Comp. 29 Yds. 290
Pct. 45.3
Td. 0
Int. 1

Rushing

Att. 8
Yds 112 Yds. per 14
Td. 0

Oh yeah some balls were dropped so maybe he would be at 55% or so.

Vince still completed less then half but looked more then decent against GB...he didnt make any bad decisons like he did in two of the previous preseason games...

our WRs have the worst case of droppsies and this team is in dire need of someone coming off of 53 man roster cut downs......we might not be able to get back into the post season with this current group...they are averaging 5+ drops a game...and a couple of those made diffrences in the game something you just cant have when your playing for playoff spots...

CJ if he is on par with his preseason performances WILL be OROY.....there has been no better rookie then CJ this preseason...keep it up mayne!!

Reynaldo Hill could easily be the worst CB in the leauge....his nickname is "burnt toast".....but our lack of depth at cb is going to keep this guy on the roster for atleast another year.....i hope to god that nothing happens to our starters at any of the cb spots....and i think eric king might be the next in line before hill but hills experience alone may be enough to put him on the field more then he should.....guy is beyond garbage fuck

And another cut and paste from a Titans fan:

maybe i'm the only one and i might not be but i hope that once the season begins that VY shows some improvements because i would hate to see us held back this year just because of the offense.i'm not the biggest kerry collins fan but after he threw that perfect 51 yard throw to lavelle hawkins for a score you have to start thinking about why it seems that VY is struggling while the backup comes in and starts making plays and getting the offense fired up.i'm probably going to get folks irritated but i'm not trying to but i'm starting to wonder if VY is going to be the answer at the QB spot.i know its still preseason and all but it would be a shame if the defense is top five and we lose games because the offense can't seal the deal at the end and put it away.
