It may seem that way, but the only reason Young seems "handcuffed" is because they have to scale back the offense and make it simpler for him to understand. Instead of having multiple routes that the receivers can run based upon the look the defense gives them, they are only going to run the one rout that is designed because of his inability to read defenses. In addition, many times they are only going to run plays with a hot route, and his only other option is to hit the check down, that's it. His inability to go through his progressions correctly makes this necessary. They did this in Pittsburgh with Kordell Stewart, and every other place where you have a running Qb with a world of athletic talent and no brains to show for it.
