EFF looking for petition signatures to stop the RIAA suits

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has put up a petition to send to Congress. They have drafted a letter that will be presented as a petition of protest and a request to be present in behalf of the public in any future hearings "regarding the proper scope of copyright enforcement in the digital age".
They say that "Copyright law shouldn't make criminals out of 60 million Americans, and it's time for a change. Congress is going to hold hearings; we need your help to make sure that the public's voice is heard. Tell Congress that it's time to stop the madness!"

At the moment they have about 1700 signatures. However, they need 10,000.

DON'T BE LAZY, AND SIGN THIS PETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Send the link to anybody and everybody you know.

"Please congress... Turn your head even though the entire country young and old is stealing from the mouths of artists children."

At least I don't pretend what I do is right. I go through this insane process to keep myself from getting caught though... It's called "cleaning out your shared folder".

I'll teach it to you guys one of these days when I have the time to type it all up.

fuck the industry
fuck the riaa

everyday they make new laws. do they get rid of the old laws to balance out the amount of laws we have? fuck no, greedy bastards, so we slowly get things taken away from us 1 at a time, first metallica's ballad " tears over napster " brought attention to mp3ing, now the money hungry cocksuckers want more money so they poach "innocent" people for sharing. I saw somewhere that a 12 year old girl was fined like 2000 for file sharing. what the fuck? do you think a 12 year..... aww fuck it nevermind you understand what i'm sayin.

I can just imagine it in a couple of years the RIAA goes round to homes and busts people lol........ itd be like

RIAA - "Sir do u have any illegal music"
Civilian - "Nah, man i dun have nothin'!"
RIAA - "Whats this sir?"
Cilvilian - " Thats my CD"
RIAA - " Do u mind if i take a look at that sir?"
Civilian - "Yes i do mind, leave my shit alone"
RIAA - " Sir it seems this is a burnt ICP CD, what do u have to say in your defense?"
Civilian - "That shit aint mine!"
RIAA - "Don't play dumb with me sir, your lucky its an ICP burnt CD, we cant prosecute you for having pirated shit music!"
Civilian - "Thank God, im too young to go to jail!"
RIAA - "sir u better stop this illegal actions or you will get busted for real!"
Civilian - "Sorry won't happen again!"

2 minutes later the guys on the net surfing child porn and downloading from Kazaa lol.......

i'd do it but i'm nervous about the industry findin my name on the list then goin after me for nothin

i was feelin the same way. i clean out my shared folder too, but that's not full proof they could still get records showing that you are a repeat user by downloading frequently and file a subpeona to access your computer files and if you saved it in another file they can still trace where it came from. but that's not likely they'll go that far yet. so keep cleaning out your shared folder and it should buy you some time.

or u could do what i do and wait till you have alot of shit saved up and just burn it all and make a mp3 cd w/ all that data. Then just use some program that u prefer to clean your comp w/. I use one called "window washer", and also use "norton cleansweap". Gets rid of everything.

Maybe. But I honestly don't feel an ounce of guilt. When I see this multi-millionaire artists on TV dishing out shitty music thinking consumers are stupid as fuck, then I'm not sympathetic. I support ANYBODY who makes dope fucking music. I'll be picking up that new Outkast when it comes out.

I think this online downloading shit was the CONSUMER'S way of evening shit out with the Recording Industry giving us shitty music and high CD prices for years.

Oh, and if you want to avoid getting caught on kazaa, simply disable your file sharing. Sounds like you're putting in unnecessary work with moving your shared folder and all.

Yea isn't it horrible how consumers are forced against their will to buy shitty music.

:dead:

I don't support the RIAA's decision to sue, but I do support their right to sue.

Stop crying about it.

Actually, Metallica is the only band I believe in history to have full control over their music, albums, video/dvd's, and concerts. So basically, when you download a song from Metallica, you ARE stealing from them. Although I think file sharing helps and hurts artists, I'll give Metallica their due...

Most know how i feel about filesharing, because the shit effects me. Just because there is software and the such its still stealing, anyway you look at it. No i do not download music, have dubbed a tape or Cd. You you know anything about the music business you would know how fucked it is when alot of people get 15 point or less meaning about of $1.00 they get 15 cents of less. So next time you do it think of all the pennies sombodys not getting for spending days and nights in the studio and then not getting shit for the heart and soul they put on cd so, some ungreatful mutha fuckers, who think shit if i can get it for free, the game is alot of smoking mirrors, most artists are not doing as good as it looks, so a lot of you feel its okay to steal from them. its not so i hope they all get caught up. So you owned a record its like a 12 year old ran about with her pants full of cd . Now being a store owner would you give a fuck if she was 12 no, youd want your muther fucking money. Not being greedy you just want whats yours. If you download music and bang it more than twice. you own to them to purchase that shit bottom line.

Exactly. It's funny how people are so mad at the RIAA.

Think about it, if you steal a cd from a record store you go to jail...the RIAA is actually going easy on you by letting you pay with money as opposed to time and your asshole's virginity.

Now think about this, if the RIAA came to your house while you were gone and stole all of your cd's, what would you do?
