Ten of the other dead also were soldiers, while the remaining one was a civilian police officer who was working as a contractor on the base, Cone said.
The silver lining.

well what the fuck do they expect... you train someone to kill and their gunna kill

being a major in these times you are bound to have seen and know about some fucked up shit it would be difficult for anyone to handle

they should have done a better job recognizing that he was borderline and maybe they could have prevented this

"Major Malik Nadal Hasan" I bet he is a terrorist who got in the army...dude earlier said he didnt think it was terrorist because they need a college degree etc...i bet many terrorist have degrees homie
There are educated terrorists...but they're the recruiters and leaders. Most of the suicide bombers and other terrorists are people who are influenced by them. And like Shea said, if it was terrorism, it would be on a much larger scale. If they got a terrorist on an army base, why not give him a bomb that he can plant to kill lots of other soldiers and their leaders? He was just using 2 handguns...doesn't seem like terrorism to me, but we can't always predict them so you never know...

WASHINGTON - The man identified as the shooting suspect at Fort Hood was believed to be an Army mental health professional preparing to deploy to Iraq.

NBC News’ Pete Williams reported that U.S. officials identified the gunman as Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist who had been promoted to major in May. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson, R-Texas, said military officials told her that the gunman, who was 39 or 40, was about to be deployed to Iraq and was “upset about it.”

NBC News' Robert Windrem said Hasan specialized in traumatic stress. A U.S. military official said Hasan had orders to deploy to Iraq on Nov. 28
