im a die hard 49er fan so it pains me to say this but I think the raiders compete for the division is garcia is the opening starter...that and an improved line on both sides...
lets keep this discussion gentlemanly...theres a million other threads for fuck your team....

Russell should/will start and finish the season as our qb if he remains "healthy"! I only see Garcia coming in if Russell gets injured. Garcia signed with the Raiders because he thinks he'll get a chance to play if Russell screws up (like Vince Young and Matt Leinhart). But that's not going to happen in Oakland because we don't need any qb controversies. Russell is still young and he's going to go through his ups and downs like every other qb in the league has (i.e. Eli Manning). Russell is entering his 2nd season as our starting qb with no distractions (like owner vs coach) and he finished the season playing pretty good football (last 3 games he threw 6 TD's and only 2 INT's with pretty good qb ratings) that led us to two victories in a row to end the season.

It makes no sense to start Garcia. Garcia is older, doesn't have a strong arm, is not that big and starting Garcia at some point in the season would only set Russell back.

In my opinion Russell will and should finish the season as our starting qb!

I think russell should start....but if he plays like shit switch him with jeff something like the eagles did last year

I say start russell for the simple fact we invested alot in him.....number 1 pick and the money he got.......if he dosent show a substancial improvement by week 10 then garcia will have to finish the year.....

Russell is our franchise qb, drafted number 1 overall, the Raiders have a ton of money invested in him and he's still in that developing stage. It makes no sense to bench him especially considering how well he played at the end of the season.
