Crazy, I watched the entire game, and although I saw some questionable calls, I did not see all of this coming. Only two plays are worth Seahawk' fans griping over; the Darrell Jackson P.I. and the Ben Roth. touchdown. My opinion:
Darrell Jackson PI: I think the "push" was small and may not have been what landed the ball in Jackson's hands for the negated touchdown. He could have caught the ball between his legs, behind his back or even doing the splits in the air for all we know, all without touching the defender. Unfortunatley that is not the criteria. According to the rulebook an offensive player commits pass interference when "Initiating contact with a defender by shoving or pushing off thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass." Now you can call it what you want, a tough or a push, but in my opinion it did create seperation between him and the defender. And I think the ref's were correct in calling the penalty in accordance with the NFL rulebook. Again, I'm not saying he wouldn't have caught the ball without the push. I look at this similar to the way a punt return gets called back for a holding that occured against a player who had NO CHANCE of tackling the ball runner.
Ben Roth TD: Way too close to tell, but if I had to choose I would say that it was not a touchdown. The way I see it, if the ref's called him down at the one inch line and it was reviewed, the call would stand as not being a touchdown. Either way the call was standing.
