i dont think thats true. my grandpa my uncles and my dad are die hard steelers fans. ive drove to pitt before to the games n shit with my dad. my grampa worked in pitt back in the day and he just passed it down to his sons and the sons to their sons. thats just how it goes. i dont think its fair to say if u havent lived there then u a bandwagonner. i can kinda c ur point tho. when the steelers won the superbowl season came up again and i saw ppl sportin their jerseys swearin they was big fans just cause they won. then a better team comes along and they hop. so i agree with u on those type a stupid fucks.
Yeah sounds like you get it. I worded my statement fairly ambiguously with the word "roots" and from what you just said you could make a pretty solid claim to having roots in Pittsburgh if your grandpa worked there. Also if you're way out there in West Texas like I think you are, that's practically an entire day's drive from any NFL stadium so I understand.
If the out of area fan is a case of something that really was passed down a generation or two, a father-son kind of thing I have a lot more respect for that than I do the folks w/ no connection. It also helps if they don't live in an NFL market, b/c shit my dad grew up a Bears fan but fuck I'm Seattle born & raised so I roll with the Seahawks.
Only reason I have this rule is b/c how many out of area fans have you met of dogshit teams? W/ this crowd it's always the same 6 or 8 teams, those that have won stuff so they're taking a shortcut by jumping on the bandwagon.
No disrespect intended towards you (but absolutely at the horseshit folks)
