Excuses and more excuses.
You all fail to see that Roy was not effective because of a bad match up of styles.
Yes he lacked conditioning the first time around but that had nothing to do with the fact that he couldn't get off with his usual quick and lounging punches.
Roy will never be effective with his style of fighting against a guy like Tarver, even in prime conditioning.
I already explained why, haven't ya'll heard that styles make fights?
Tyson can never beat Holyfield because his style fits perfectly with Holyfield.
Same thing with Shane Mosley against Winky Wright.
And same thing with Hopkins against Trinidad....
All figters are good fighters, and they can even beat lesser fighters who have already beaten their conquerors.
It's all in how a fighter's fighting style matches up against another fighter's fighting style.
I've made big money gambling using this formula so I know what I'm sayin here.
I picked Holyfield to upset Tyson the first time they fought,
I picked , Forrest over Mosley, Mayorga over Forrest, Hopkins over Trinidad, Toney over Jirov, Phillips over Tzsu, Marquez over Johnson, Marquez over Austin, Barrera over Hamed, and so on....
I know my shit and yes, I picked Tarver over Jones the first time.
Maybe Tarver didn't get the win (I thought the fight was even at best) but he sure as hell surprised all of you giving Jones the toughest fight of his life.
Jones has to fight a perfect fight against Tarver to even have a chance, that is if Tarver's gonna bring it this time around. What did Forrest say about Mosley when he beat him as a 6 to 1 underdog? He said a good jab will always beat good speed. And that is what Tarver's jab did to Jones. Stopped him dead in his tracks and he resorted to throwing a punch at a time, the only thing that was effective for him.
I say this fight's a toss up. Why? Because it all depends on Tarver. He can easily win this fight if he chooses to do so.
The ball's in his hands....
