a few things........

I don't think it's a fight that can be called right now, I honestly believe it will go to whoever's camp has the best plan and sticks to that. Tarver can easily win this fight if you ask me, but jones didn't get his reputation by being a mediocre fighter. The reason people don't fight jones like they'd like to, is because we've all seen the footage of the one punch knockdowns when both fighters are standing looking at each other with their hands still.

Tyson vs. Jones
Give me a break, that would be no contest. Tyson sucks. Look at the fights he had against holyfield. He was so damn frustrated that holyfield was slipping his punches and countering, he bit the mans ear off! Jones would fuck him up, and I hope that fight does happen.

Jones was embarrassed in this last fight with tarver, but don't expect him to come out sloppy. He's a warrior in there, and the man can fight. I hate the way he has ducked opponents his whole career, and I'm suprised he took this fight. I may actually pay to see this fight although it may end up being really disappointing. Hopefully king does put together a good card.

YALL CATS REALLY AINT BOXING FANS OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TRAINING IF YOU THINK ROY JONES WASN'T AT A DISADVANTAGE TAKING A FIGHT WHERE HE HAD TO STRIP HIS SELF OF SO MUCH WEIGHT(MOSTLYU MUSCLE) IN SO LITTLE TIME. I INVITE ANYONE ON THIS BOARD TO LOSE 25 TO 30 POUNDS IN 6 WEEKS AS HE HAD TO... ANYONE UP FOR IT??? DIDN'T THINK SO. TARVER IS A GOOD BOXER, BUT IF HE COULDN'T BEAT A SICKLY ROY JONES, HOW WILL HE HANDLE A WELL PREPARED ROY JONES... ROY SHOULD HAVE NEVER TOOK THE FIRST FIGHT KNOWING WHAT HE HAD TO DO WAS NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE, BUT IF YOUR A ROY JONES HATER YOU WON'T SEE THE REAL TRUTH, ALL YOU SEE IS ROY JONES BEING EXPOSED TO PUNCHES THAT WOULD HAVE NEVER HIT HIM HAD HE BEEN IN SHAPE... I'LL BET ANYONE ON THIS BOARD TOP DOLLAR THAT THE NEXT FIGHT WILL BE A MASSACRE BECAUSE JONES WILL MAKE THIS NEXT FIGHT MORE PERSONAL... BELIEVE IT... ANYONE UP TO LOSESOME BIG DOUGH??? ONCE AGAIN DIDN'T THINK SO...

Exactly he had to drop around 20 pounds in tha last fight, and Tarver still didn't beat him then. And now that Roy is healthy, Tarver ain't gonna stand no chance against him!!!!

point is he was sick from losing all that weight. a healthy jones will knock tarver the fuck out period. jones vs tyson I think jones would have a harder time knocking him out. That would be a good fight. The only reason tyson bit holyfield's ear off is because holyfield head bunted tyson where he got that sparring injury above his eye. If you don't know holyfield is known for being dirty like that I've seen it plenty of times in other fights. Too bad tyson flipped out like that cause he was winning that fight.

Excuses and more excuses.
You all fail to see that Roy was not effective because of a bad match up of styles.
Yes he lacked conditioning the first time around but that had nothing to do with the fact that he couldn't get off with his usual quick and lounging punches.
Roy will never be effective with his style of fighting against a guy like Tarver, even in prime conditioning.

I already explained why, haven't ya'll heard that styles make fights?
Tyson can never beat Holyfield because his style fits perfectly with Holyfield.
Same thing with Shane Mosley against Winky Wright.
And same thing with Hopkins against Trinidad....
All figters are good fighters, and they can even beat lesser fighters who have already beaten their conquerors.
It's all in how a fighter's fighting style matches up against another fighter's fighting style.

I've made big money gambling using this formula so I know what I'm sayin here.
I picked Holyfield to upset Tyson the first time they fought,
I picked , Forrest over Mosley, Mayorga over Forrest, Hopkins over Trinidad, Toney over Jirov, Phillips over Tzsu, Marquez over Johnson, Marquez over Austin, Barrera over Hamed, and so on....

I know my shit and yes, I picked Tarver over Jones the first time.
Maybe Tarver didn't get the win (I thought the fight was even at best) but he sure as hell surprised all of you giving Jones the toughest fight of his life.
Jones has to fight a perfect fight against Tarver to even have a chance, that is if Tarver's gonna bring it this time around. What did Forrest say about Mosley when he beat him as a 6 to 1 underdog? He said a good jab will always beat good speed. And that is what Tarver's jab did to Jones. Stopped him dead in his tracks and he resorted to throwing a punch at a time, the only thing that was effective for him.

I say this fight's a toss up. Why? Because it all depends on Tarver. He can easily win this fight if he chooses to do so.
The ball's in his hands....

TO THE DUDE THAT THINKS HOYLFIELD BEAT MIKE BECAUSE STYLES MAKES FIGHTS... YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW BOXING. MIKE WAS NOT THE SAME FIGHTER HE WAS COMING FROM JAIL... HE NEVER FOUGHT THE TYPE OF TUNE UPS HE NEEDED BEFORE GETTING IN THE RING WITH HOLYFIELD. HAD THEY FOUGHT BACK IN 1991 WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT OUTCOME... TYSON HAD NO BUSINESS IN THE RING WITH HOLYFIELD, BUT WITH BAD ADVISORS, HE TOOK THE FIGHT AND PAID FOR IT. NO DOUBT HOLYFIELD DID HIS THING, BUT FIGHTING A DUD FRESH OUT OF JAIL, ANY TOP CALIBER FIGHTER IS GONNA WIN THAT MATCH. HAD MIKE GOT THE RIGHT TRAINERS AND SUPPORT SYSTEM HE WOULD NOT HAVE SHOWN HOLYFIELD THE RESPECT HE DID AND WOULD'VE RAN RIGHT THROUGH HIM LIKE PAST FIGHTERS HE DESTROYED. HE STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF HOLYFIELD. WHEN DID MIKE STAND RIGHT IN FRONT OF A FIGHTER IN THE PAST. HE LOST HIS FIGHTING REFLEXES AND NEVER REGAINED THEM. CLEAR CUT LOSS BECAUSE OF NOT BEING PREPARED TO FIGHT SOME ONE WHO HAD BEEN IN PLENTY OF WARS THE ENTIRE TIME MIKE WAS IN JAIL GETTING SOFT.

FUCK THAT, TYSON WAS OUT LONG ENOUGH TO GET IN CONDITION AND GET HIS HEAD ON STRAIGHT ENOUGH FOR THAT FIGHT, HE WOULDA LOST TO HOLYFIELD IN 91. TYSON AIN'T THAT GOOD, AND HIS INTIMIDATION FACTOR RAN OUT IN 91, AND HE'S BEEN SHITTY EVER SINCE.

ON A SIDE NOTE
ROY JONES JUNIOR ANNOUNCED ON THIS PAST FRIDAY, ON HOT 97 IN NYC THAT HE WOULD "NEVER FIGHT TARVER AGAIN" SO WHEN DID THIS FIGHT GET ANNOUNCED?

tyson was that good...
in the last 15 years, i've only seen one fighter dodge punches as good as him...and that was David Reid...

but not only could he duck, he had montsterous arms, and he was so fuckin fast and mean...

he lost his killer instinct with all the drugs they had him on...

when he did the pullback, duck, uppercut...oh my god...
it was like watching mohammed ali's speed with george foremans power

YEP HE WAS OUT LONG ENOUGH BUT HE AINT PREPARE FOR NO FIGHTER LIKE A HOLYFIELD, INSTEAD HE PREPARED FOR FIGHTS WITH MCNEELY AND OTHER FIGHTERS THAT SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED IN HIS LEAGUE OR ANYBODY ELSES FOR THAT MATTER... A BUNCH OF FLUFFY SAFE FIGHTS FOR HIS EGO INSTEAD OF OF REAL FIGHTS WIT CATS THAT WAS HOT AT THE TIME... PLEASE TYSON OVERRATED, YOU MUST BE YOUNG... TYSON WAS THE BEST HEAVYWEIGHT TO COME AROUND IN THIS GENEREATION, BUT LACK OF THE RIGHT TYPE OF SUPPORT, MONEY, FAME, LACK OF HUMILITY AND OTHER KEY FACTORS STRIPPED HIM OF HIS PASSION FOR THE FIGHT GAME. MIKE BEEN GOIN THROUGH THE MOTIONS SINCE THE EARLY 90'S WHEN HE LOST FOCUS. HE AINT FOUGHT NOBODY WHERE IT WASA REAL MATCH SINCE DONOVAN "RAZOR" RUDDICK. IF TYSON WOULD HAVE STAYED WITH KEVIN ROONEY, HE WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN CONSIDERED IRON MIKE... INSTEAD HE HAD KING AND ALL OF HIS GOONS AROUND, WHO STRIPPED OF NOT ONLY HIS MONEY BUT HIS RESPECT. HE THREW THE FIGHT WITH BUSTER DOUGLAS, WHO GOT EXPOSED ONE FIGHT LATER BY HOLYFIELD. YOU AINT A REAL FIGHT FIGHT FAN IF YOU DON'T BELEIVE MIKE WAS THE TRUTH... WAS THE TRUTH UNTIL KING GOT IN HIS CORNER

YOUNG MOE... YOU OBVIOUSLY KNOW, MIKE STILL COULD MAKE TOP DOLLAR FOR FIGHTS BASED ON HIS LEGEND

he was a big deal, because he was knockin suckaz out. Most of those fights, there is no method to the maddness. I am a lil young, i'm 22, but that doesn't mean I haven't seen the footage. He's always been the same, "he's not that great, but if he gets ahold of you with one of those uppercuts" is what plenty of people say. I think foreman was a better fighter, in fact much better, but he doesn't have the reputation like mike does. Mike has a bigger reputation than his acutal skills. Mike lost twice to holyfield! If he wasn't on track that second time, what's the excuse? He just flat out got his ass beat. He had never faced anyone that is considered great, and when he has, he's gotten his ass beat. Foreman beat joe fraiser and ALI, and still doesn't get the same respect. Mike rep. is just blown out of proportion

Saturday, May 15, Mandalay Bay Casino. Get your plane tickets & hotel reservations NOW while they're cheap, instead of waiting until it's announced.

I'm telling you, it's happening.

I have my "sources" :)

ACTUALLY MIKE WAS WINNING THE THREE ROUNDS BEFORE HE GOT HEAD BUTTED AND BIT HOLYFIELD... YOU MAY HAVE SEEN THE FOOTAGE BUT YOU MUST HAVEN'T SEEN HIS FULL FIGHTS... TYSON WAS A RARE BREED OF SPEED, POWER FEROCIOUSNESS NOT SEEN IN THE HEAVYWEIGHTS BEFORE OR SINCE. YEAH FORMEMAN HAD THE POWER AND ALI HAD THE SPEED, BUT FRASIER WAS THE CLOSEST TO HIM BUT EVEN HE WAS SLOWER... CAN'T SAY WHETHER FOREMAN WAS BETTER SINCE THEY NEVER FOUGHT AND CAME FROM TWO DIFFERENT DECADES. SHIT FOREMAN WAS BETTER THAN ALI AT THE TIME, EXCEPT HE DIDN'T USE HIS HEAD IN THE FIGHT. HAD HE NOT PUNCHED HIS SELF OUT TRYNA KILL ALI, HE COULD HAVE BEAT HIM, BUT ALI WAS THE SMARTER OLDER FIGHTER...

yea mike would have beat holyfield the 2nd time. i am even a believer that mike would have beat holyfield the 1st time if he wanst getting butted through the whole fight. just my opinion buy hey , im a tyson fan , theres always going to be the argument of tyson is great or not great , i feel he was great and still can be if he gets his shit together , im hopin for that . tyson in his prime was the best. i think tyson in his prime would have murdered any fighter from anytime in theyre prime , even ali . somethin to think about while were on the boxing subject.

by the way watch out for the klitchko bros in 2004 & 2005 , they are the future of the heavys, future of the middleweights are jermaine taylor and jeff lacy . check em out...
