Eazy E revolutionized the independent label movement. What rapper before Eazy said fuck an artist deal?...I own Ruthless just distribute and market my shit we are self contained and will do the rest...Eazy paved the way business wise for ya No Limits,Suave House,Sic Wit It's, etc. Eazy brought u the DOC's,Dr Dre,IceCube,NWA,etc. Think about it...if there was no Eazy, there might not had been a Dr Dre, no dre no Eminem, no Eminem no 50Cent (at least to the celebrity he is now). No Eazy no Cube, No Cube no Mack 10 or Friday After Next, No friday after next no Katt Williams! But Eazy was kinda like a seed that "helped" offspring all of this. Plus he did a lot for underprivledged children he was really into that. His story is amazing if u really thinkin about it cuz he trailblazed in so many ways. Him and Lil J (James Prince) at Rap A Lot.
EVEN THOUGH I WOULD LIKE 2 HEAR MORE PEOPLES SIDE OF THE STORY THAN 1...OVERALL I THINK IT WAS A VERY GOOD & INFORMATIVE DOCUMENTARY AS A WHOLE..I THINK A FEW FACTS WERE SCRAMBLED BUT HONESTLY ON SOME GANGSTA SHIT IT'S HARD 2 GET 2 THE ROOTS CUZ A LOT OF THE INTERVIEWERS ARE NOT WILLING 2 REALLY GO 2 HOODS & FIND THE PEOPLE WITH THE MOST HELPFUL INFORMATION 4 THE PUBLIC 2 SEE...I FELT A WEIRD FEELING SEEING THE FAT TONE PART CUZ HE ALWAYS TOLD ME HE DIDN'T KILL MAC DRE & THAT HE LOVED HIM & TOLD HIM HE SHOULD HAVE HOPPED IN THE CAR WITH HIM THAT NIGHT....I WASN'T THERE SO I DON'T SPEAK ON IT MUCH BUT I THINK THERE ARE MANY MORE FACTS 2 BE TOLD....THE THING THAT PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT THERE ARE MANY UNSOLVED MURDERS EVERYWHERE EVERY YEAR....RAPPERS MURDERS ARE JUST MORE HIGH PROFILE BUT HONESTLY THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER IS...IF NOBODY'S SNITCHIN OR GIVING UP INFO...THERE IS NO WAY 4 THE LAW 2 PROSECUTE ANYONE 4 A MURDER....SUSPECTS EITHER CONFESS & CONVICT THEMSELVES OR A WITNESS HAS 2 DELIVER A STATEMENT..SOME PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHARGES & CONVICTIONS..ROBBING BANKS IS MORE CRIMINAL THAN MURDEROUS 2 ME..I KNOW TONE BEAT A FEW MURDER CASES IN KC & I DON'T GLORIFY ANYTHING OR ANYONE BUT I KNOW HE WAS ON SOME GANGSTA SHIT...I HAVE NEVER CHOSEN SIDES IN THIS SITUATION BUT SOMETIMES I FEEL THE NEED 2 DEFEND HIS HONOR(AS A GANGSTA).....DRE WAS A LOT MORE GANGSTA THAN A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK 2....SINCE I KNEW BOTH MEN,I RESPECT THEM BOTH & MISS THEIR PRESENCE IN THE RAPGAME....I'M SURE ALL THE OTHER THEORIES & ACCUSATIONS WILL COME OUT ONE DAY....RIP FURLY & FAT TONY THE RIDER!!!!!100

Too Short started Dangerous Music in 1986 with Freddy B. The thing with Eazy is, when Jerry Heller got involved he kind of took all the responsibilities of running the label away from Eazy. Bay Area rappers never had that type of guy to orchastrate behind the scenes. If it wasn't for Jerry Heller, NWA would have never done some of the things they were able to do. Some people think Heller is the real one that introduced Gangsta Rap to the world. Cats like 40 and Short get the credit for revolutionizing the independent game because they didn't have the help of a Jerry Heller type. All out the trunk type shit.

Yeah but Dangerous Music aint put nothin out back then...that was more of an imprint type thing and who were the artist? What artist came out on Dangerous? And as far as Heller, of coarse he was instrumental, but that was the brilliance of Eazy to say hey...I dont know everything, let me get somebody who can walk me thru certain doors. But make no mistake, Eazy ran and owned Ruthless which is why his wife got it when he passed, not Jerry Heller. I dont understand whats so difficult in giving dude his props? What is there to dispute?

Fact being...Bone Thugs have sold over 30million records alone..all under Ruthless! Now thats 30 million from one act on Ruthless, not counting the NWA,Eazy E,JJ Fad,etc...What Bay area artist has sold 30 million records? If yall wanna claim 2Pac (depending on the day of the week and whos posting)then he may come close with his catalogue. But none, I mean none, of your independent labels have sold close to that "one" group of Ruthless. Dangerous Music put out Dru Down, put the spotlight on Ritchie Rich and 415, Dru Down was part of the Dangerous Group who discovered the Luniz if I'm not mistaken. Ant Banks was apart of Dangerous Music, Rappin 4-Tay was put out by Short, Spice 1 was discovered by Short. The list goes on and on. Sounds like you are the one not giving props. I'm not discrediting what Eazy did, I'm simply stating the reason why he doesn't get credit for revolutionizing the independent game. It's because he isn't the one that revolutionized the independent game. Short did that. Short started out the trunk. Short is the one that did it BY HIMSELF. With no help from a 60 year old billion dollar executive. If Eazy really ran Ruthless like you say he did, explain to me why Dre and Cube and the rest of them niggas left....They left because they didn't like the direction that Heller was taken the group and the label. They felt that Heller was in control of something that he did not help start. I heard that come out of Dre's mouth.
Pac has sold over 76 million records to the day by the way. Hammer has sold damn near 20 million by himself. Short was the first rapper ever to go platinum six straight times. And once again, these Bay Area acts (Short, 40, Spice) did it without the help of the major executives that helped Eazy. Bay shit the true home of out the trunk music.

You have to ask Short why he didn't stick with it. Short went through a lot of drama in the mid 90's in Oakland. A lot of people say niggas kicked him out The Town. He moved to ATL, "retired," Short went through a lot. If that shit never would have happened, who knows how far he could have taken what he had started. And that is the reason why the niggas that he discovered didn't sign with him. The fact is, Eazy did what he did with a machine backing him. Thus, Eazy can't be given full credit for revolutionizing independent rap because he had million dollar executives signing checks for him. Short didn't have that, 40 didn't have that. You keep saying Eazy "ran" Ruthless, but from what I have read and heard, Heller ran Ruthless, Eazy was just the face to the name. And that is why NWA broke up.
Im aware of Shorts rumored town problems. But u just backed my point up...yes Eazy revolutionized it by saying hey...we selling a couple thousand out the trunk in my area, why not sell millions to the world. And "every" independent label that signs some type of major distribution deal gets an operating expense budget and a line of credit!! Yes including Sick With It,Get Low,Cash Money, No Limit,Roc A Fella,etc.....But Eazy gets credit for thinking outside the box. Short coulda did it...of coarse...but he didnt. And again if Eazy didnt own or run Ruthless, then why duz Tomica Woods-Wright own it now and not Jerry Heller? Heller has been trying to sue since Eazy's heart stopped for a stake in the company. So u can forget all that he didnt run it or own it nonsense.
