Self-proclaimed "boss", Miami rapper Rick Ross has admitted he once held down a gig as a correctional officer. After being questioned numerous times, and adamantly denying it, many were still convinced otherwise. Well it turns out that those who DID think it was true...were right.

Ross sat down with a magazine recently and explained himself. He was shown a picture of the CO photo and was asked, point blank, if that was him or not.

"Yes. It's me." He also added, "I never tried to hide my past. I put my name inside my cds. My company has my SS#. I could've put a company name... I done been up and I done been down and that's what makes me what I am. I never ratted on a nigga. I never prosecuted a nigga. I never locked up a nigga, that's first and foremost. I always felt that me being the nigga that I am, I never owed a nigga an explanation... When I'm making my music and I'm talking about blow, it's because I did it. When I say that I'm rich off cocaine, it's because i did it. Those are the street principals that apply."

fuckin hilarity, there's Hip Hop for you

Honestly, I don't give a fuck if an artists is a real thug, a real killer, a CO, a Chester, or whatever, the only thing that matters is the music, the rest is irrelevant.

That said, I have never liked Rick Ross but for purely musical reasons

I guess that is good for you,

you cant relate to the whole thing cause you never grew up here

i dont blame you, but sometimes i listen to artists like that too, artists that i know for sure are faking the whole thing

just makes me appreciate real rappers like krs 1 more

When I say what I said above, of course I mean that good music is music that comes from the heart. And it can be fake (in terms of how accurately reality is depicted in it), but if it's fake it should be so obviously fake that everybody understands that, e.g. Brotha Lynch type of rappers where things are so cartoonishly exaggerated that you simply can't think it's the real world that's being described

Most of trap music is also a cartoonish exaggeration of reality so it falls under that same category

I knew a CO at a juve center that was moving major weight. He didn't rap so i guess he ain't gotta explain himself? In reality a CO is a job, if you need a job you need a job, i was told the benifits is good too, plus a CO really ain't got shit to do with the justice system other than maintaining control of people who already been put away or waiting to be put away. It might actually be a good cover.

All honesty I couldn't tell you a Rick Ross song other than "Blow". Its entertainment, you seem like your world has come crashing down around you cause a dude had a real job. Do you even understand how u become a CO. It ain't that hard, you can have a record and be a CO. And Ice Cube graduated college before NWA so by your standards the morals of hip hop have been down the drain about 2o + years
