Ramadan Mubarak to the brothers and sisters! It sure is hard waking up in the morning here...whats a good meal for the morning?? what do you guys eat...ive been going on empty stomach for the first 3 days, it was incredibly difficult...mind over matter! Its hot here in davis. The mosque is several blocks away and i dont like the idea of cycling at night.

Ramadan Mubarak brother. My suhoor has been eggs, arabic bread and tomatoes, done in 5 minutes, quick and easy.

i either eat persian food or afghan bread and feta cheese, sometimes wit eggs. usually i eat the leftovers of the meal i had for dinner the night before (i can never finish)

i know but it was just the "tomatoes" that i pictured to be the sliced up kind with salt on the side. many arabs including my parents would make that with eggs.

i did not create this thread as a place to argue so i will not fight with you over this matter. i know exactly what you said and what you meant to say, there is no confusion on my part. i understand your viewpoint. however, you believe that ramadan is an extreme measure one partakes in as a way to please or get closer to God. while this is one of its goals, there is a lot more to it. nobody puts a gun to our heads and makes us fast, we make the decision that we want to go through with it. it is required by Islam, but if one were to secretly breaks their fast, nobody will know but the person and God. we choose to experience this, we choose to test our discipline, we choose to strive for self discovery and expansion, we choose to want purity, modesty, understanding of the hungry, the suffering and the less fortunate. It is a holy experience that we are willing to partake in to show our devotion to God among many other things. If you do not understand it and want to, then ask questions respectfully. Otherwise, please keep your superfluos, uneducated opinions to yourself. Thank you.

i was a muslim, and yes you cannot say that.
you cant make somebody else blaspheme, even if he was already a blasphemer.
so say he replied "Yes, i am god" to your question , the faults on him AND you.

I don't follow the some of the extreme laws/guidelines of Islam (calling someone God is a great example). I focus on the aspects that serve the individual more.

We are arguing over something very trivial and stupid, like what you brought up (no offense). Focusing on the parts of Islam that really help the human being is what I choose to concern myself with - google this: Sufism.

I know that a strict Muslim follows very specific guidelines, but Sufi's concern themselves with things which are much more important.

And please don't tell me to watch out for what I'm saying. I'm not as 'strict muslim' as your parents were/are. Thanks.
