Raiders give 49ers OK to talk to Jackson
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at 1:10 pm in Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders have given the 49ers the OK to talk to offensive coordinator Hue Jackson about their head coaching position, according to a team executive.

“The 49ers asked and Al said yes,” senior executive John Herrera said. “He’s happy for Hue.’

AL had to let cable go, there were other teams interested in Hue for a HC job.

pretty much

Al got nervous that the Niners or someone else would snatch up Hue, so he made the move

As much as I was content with the direction Cable was taking the team I dont think Cable was the type of coach to take us to that next level. I think the players responded better with Hue Jackson as OC than Cable as Head Coach. I hate to see him leave this way but contract deadlines go accordingly, but at least he left with dignity, doesnt mean if the Raiders pick up Hue Jackson and promote him head coach or dont pick up Als desired HC (harbaugh) in some strange turn of events could still have Cable as coach.

Bad move in my opinion, I wanted to see Cable back next year then judge his fate after next years season....

I liked cable, but I think Al wanted Hue as head coach anyways, and I think the Rooney rule sf interview made Al pick up the pace.

al just wants to screw over all of the teams trying to interview hue for the rooney rule bullshit. now they have to find some other black dude to pretend to interview for a hc job.

I hate to see Cable go too but Al brought Hue in for a reason. Al prefers the Jackson/Campbell tandem over the Cable/Gradkowski tandem. Our offense improved a lot under Jackson. He knows more than Cable in regards to the X's and O's, so I think Al will hire Jackson to replace Cable and Campbell will be our starting QB next season. Al is doing the right thing in choosing Jackson over Cable.
