race is not holding the bay area rap game down..

what's holding the bay area rap game down is that it's fucking SATURATED with so many WACK ASS RAPPERS....just because they learned to rhyme some words and put them together + myspace.com they think they can actually put out a decent album out there...

there's WACK ASS black/latinos/white RAPPERS OUT THERE

If the bay area rap scene can control that shit..trust me...THERE WOULD BE BETTER MUSIC OUT THERE...

in the 90's the bay used to make good music...shit wasn't saturated as it is right now..

I mean...you can't really blame race all the way..but let's start thinking where did the bay area rap game went wrong...

and at the end of everything..only one word comes to my head...SATURATED

that's all i have to say...

What's holding the Bay back is mothafucka's trying to hard to "be Bay" and not be artist. We sit here and make these top artist in the Bay list and who's the hottest in the Bay threads and most of the artist on there can not spit a verse with serious lyrical content to save their kids life. We as "Bay fans" are contributing to the wackness by making excuses for our artist when they fall off, make bad records or are just not hot period. If we were to hear some of the shit coming out of the Bay, but from a different region we would unanamously consider it trash. I fell the diversity actually holding back sales based upon the fact that there is no concentrated nucleous of fans to make an artist sales go through the roof. It is what it is, but what is holding the Bay back is a lack of quality music (from start to finish) and to many god damn rappers flooding the market with bullshit...and who ever thinks race doesn't matter in 2007 is a fucking fool.

Ok I doubt anyone is still reading this and this has gone way off topic but I can't resist takin a shot at it:

DIVERSITY IS A BLESSING, THE BAY AREA IS BLESSED TO BE THE MELTING POT THAT AMERICA IS SUPPOSE TO BE

MUSIC IS MUSIC BLACKS N LATINOS WERE NOT THE FIRST PEOPLE TO WRITE POETRY WHICH IS WHAT RAP IS

RAP HAS BEEN LABELED ITS OWN GENRE OF MUSIC BECAUSE OF ITS CULTURE
RAP IS THE WORDS OF THE STREETS, URBAN ENIVORNMENTS GHETTOS AND PROJECTS BUT JUST BECAUSE THE ARTISTS ARE MOSTLY BLACK DOES NOT MEAN THEIR STRUGGLE IS MORE THAN IN ASIAN AND LATION GHETTOS

IF YOU EVEN BRING RACE INTO A CONVERSATION OR SAY BLACK PEOPLE OR WHITE PEOPLE YOU ARE BEING RACIST. YOU CANT PUT MILLIONS OF PEOPLE INTO CATAGORIES BASED ON A COLOR, NOT TO MENTION HOW MANY VARIATIONS OF BLACK N WHITE OR BROWN OR YELLOW ARE THERE, PEOPLE IN THE BAY SHOULD NO BETTER

WHAT THE BAY NEEDS IS VIOLENCE TO STOP.....THAT WILL TAKE ALL RACES, BE A MAN, BE SMART, TAKING ABOUT RACE IS A WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY THE BAY HIS BIGGER PROBLEMS

I find it very funny how "EVERYBODY" gets upset when a black man mentions race...Let's get it straight...Whitefolks been stealing our style for years... Jazz, Rock and Roll, Hip Hop ect. There are many things that white, latino and asian cultures have that is theres only, but what does a black man in america have that is his own? That's the real topic here... You can't barely even stereotype a nigga anymore because now we have asian niggas, white niggas, somoan niggas, latin niggas ect... We were even the first ones wearing suits back in the 20's and sh*t...Muthafuckas stole that too, now if a nigga wear a suit he is a square because now wearing a suit is associated with being white... If you still following me...Hip hop will be the same in another 50 years or so, it will be associated with everyone but black folks...

Oh and the diversity may be holding the bay back, because unlike other regions, the bay doesn't really have a recognizeable musical identity... The most interesting part of hip hop, was the world being told the black mans story from his point of view...Who really gives a fuck about the other ethnic groups we either already know your story are don't care to listen to it...

" I'm white and I grew up in ruff streets" So?
" I'm asian and I get hyphy" So?
" Us latinos can bust too" So?

You guys are idiots.

The whole issue at first was supposedly 'if people "not from the culture"(WHITES, because they only know country) put out hiphop music, then that will destroy it because they dont know what its really about'

BUT THE REAL ISSUE

is actually what pharoah posted, SOME BLACK PEOPLE FROM OUTSIDE THE BAY DONT WANT TO HELP ANY BLACK PEOPLE FROM THE BAY BECAUSE (supposedly)THE BLACK PEOPLE ARE BEING PROMOTED/MANAGED BY WHITES.

So who is your issue with??? And whats the excuse for LA? Whites too? And it's not BLACK CULTURE. The majority of black people are 40+, you think they're driving around bumping method man and the RZA! lol, get a fucking clue.

Fuck new york music labels and their excuses. The fact is the west isnt supported because of what happened with tupac/biggie... you telling me theres no bay are rapper who hasnt put out a better song then "THIS IS WHY IM HOT"? HAHAHAHAHA

Yeah new york music is too close minded to other rap, mostly because of a mindset that new york city hip hop is true hip hop and is all superiour.

Yeah thats why the bay gotta team up with the south and put our music out in the mainstream cept without diluting our music. Short and 40 been building bridges.

well stated. but if we want to get to the point where we have a thriving industry that several different camps can eat off of. then we gotta (at this point) break bread with new york.

I don't think it'll ever happen. Im sure most people think there has to be a powerhouse label on this coast that makes it big themselves, lil jon was able to do it in this day and age with TVT so its not impossible... and local support is always the issue with that. Since it is so diverse here, focusing on rap alone wont work... ALTHOUGH: YES- diversity does hold the bay back... but because of a diverse *preference* not because of who puts out the music.

...atleast from my distant perspective.

This thread is light weight racist and tries to exclusively exclude whites out of Hip Hop. My question is, when in Hip Hop history did Latins start hip hop, they were there through it all, but DJ Cool Herc was black and so were all the first rappers and DJs. If you want to take it to that extreme, Hip Hop is a black thing only. But obviously it wasn't just created for blacks because of course, Latinos soon started participating in the break dance craze and attended all of the block parties and were fully incorporated into the culture. White people just caught on a little bit later because they weren't around it, it was a hood thing. That's where it started and struggle sees no color lines, even if the majority of the struggle comes from the black and Latino community, others can relate and participate also as long as they understand the elements so race really isn't or shouldn't be an issue.

DJ Charlie Chase - Cold Crush Brothers - 1978
Prince MArkie Dee - Disco 3 / The Fat Boys - 1982
The RockSteady Crew
"JELLYBEAN" Benitez - asst production / remix for Planet Rock (also discovered Madonna)
Kid Capri
Cypress Hill
7A3
Mellow Man Ace
Lighter Shade of Brown
The Beatnuts
etc..

theres a lot more... Latins may not have started hip-hop, but they certainly DID play a big role in its development and spread. Race shouldnt matter, but apparently it does.

muthafuckas these days just slap shit together with like 100 feautured artists with gay ass nintendo sounding beats and the say it's a slapper. FUCK NO!! maybe to the new generation but for the REAL Bay rap fans who been listening to this shit since day one. u cant compare the new shit with the classic mid 90's rap. ONly a very few have met those standards and still don't get as much shine.
