Want to know the shortest POEM in the history of poetry?

For the longest time, it was thought that this was the shortest poem:

Fleas;

Adam
Had 'em.

However, that is not accurate. The shortest poem ever written is:

I.

Why?

---------------------------------------------------------------
Who are we really, to judge another, in talent, in success, in any course of event of life? For each is personal to held onto by each in a private way.

"To thine own self be true."
It has nothing to do with talent or success. Your "poem" is about some personal event that has little to no relevance to outsiders. A poem is meant to evoke a response in others, it should go beyond the individual and speak to a greater truth or idea. At least the first one you posted has rhyme and meter. And for someone to make a poem "I", then it probably has a deeper meaning than the letter I. Yours rhymes..sort of, has no meter, speaks to nothing more than whatever the fuck you're talking about (with a "clever" reference), and has no lasting value.

Poetry:

The brawling of a sparrow in the eaves,
The brilliant moon and all the milky sky,
And all that famous harmony of leaves,
Had blotted out man's image and his cry.

A girl arose that had red mournful lips
And seemed the greatness of the world in tears,
Doomed like Odysseus and the labouring ships
And proud as Priam murdered with his peers;

Arose, and on the instant clamorous eaves,
A climbing moon upon an empty sky,
And all that lamentation of the leaves,
Could but compose man's image and his cry.

Ah, someone with some sense at least. Let us examine this:

Tell me, when an artist makes that stroke with his brush, is he/she thinking of that which moves within him/her or the impact the finished product shall have on the world?
That being the case, why are the majority of great painters all DEAD before their works recognized as great?

A poem is meant to evoke a response in others, it should go beyond the individual and speak to a greater truth or idea.

Says WHO???

At least the first one you posted has rhyme and meter. And for someone to make a poem "I", then it probably has a deeper meaning than the letter I.

Check on who wrote those two poems. They are in our history of works, you can find the information.

Yours rhymes..sort of, has no meter, speaks to nothing more than whatever the fuck you're talking about (with a "clever" reference), and has no lasting value.

How do you KNOW?

In the corners of our minds
Where nothing really matters
In the recesses of our brains
We live a small existence

Token thoughts of love and pain
Always considering what to do
Pulsing through our veins
They desire to lie next to you

From prison walls our needs creep out
In pale lights of green and blue
In our minds they grief to shout
They need, they desire you

With one hand on the pulse of life
The other upon her throat
She sees nothing further matters
Loses consciousness and floats

Nothing more matters here
Breath is taken away
Except those precious kisses near
In memory now yet vague

I'm not talking about intentions, I'm talking about effects. Regardless of what one was thinking, it is the reaction of the audience that matters. Kafka wasn't satisfied with his writings and ordered it all to be burned. Kafka's work isn't seen as bullshit though, because the audience could connect with it.
That being the case, why are the majority of great painters all DEAD before their works recognized as great?
See above.
Says WHO???
Says the audience. Once you make things public, WE are the judges. If this was private, why did you make it public?

I know.
How do you KNOW?
Is there?

I gotta say I'm almost disappointed... Where'd all the haters go? All those lil gangstas that had trash-talking on their keyboard minds a few weeks ago? They must have come in and actually read what I wrote and those last few lines actually made a little sense... Cuz I sure don't see them up in here talking shit anymore! Don't tell me it wasn't ME you were trying to trash, but those I represented?!?!?!

Then, there was the "others..." All ya'll supporting the other camp... Where you at?

APB out for Its Freaks, et al! Where yah at? (We cool, Freaks, we cool...)

Sometimes, after eating a plate full of chili relleno and not pooping before I get home I have to use a public stall. And sometimes, if I wait long enough, said poop can almost feel better than sex.
